If you're on a SNRI (Venlafaxine (Effexor)) you might be able roll, it seems to vary from person to person
anarky said:Obviously the SSRI and MDMA combination has been done to death before, but has anyone tried stopping their SSRI, and used 5-htp for 3 weeks leading up to an event, and the week or so (even just the next day?) after then event. Then, start using the SSRI's again? Please inform me of possible outcomes and potential issues that may arise from this. Much thanks!![]()

Ham-milton said:Tianeptine isn't an SSRI, but it does impact serotonin. I guess it has some abuse and dependence associated, as well.
Anyone have any info about how it interacts with MDMA?
fairnymph said:I've been taking the setonergic antidepressant tianeptine for over a month now, at 12.5mg 3x/day. As of now, I have yet to experienced any direct effects of the medicine, either good or bad. It has not helped with my anxiety or my depression but I have NO side effects from it either. In the name of science (really!), I decided to see how rolling and tweaking would be on this medication.
Tianeptine and MDMA
This experiment was conducted almost exactly a month after I had started taking tianeptine at the dosage described above. The MDMA was PURE and ~130 mg. As a reference, I have had pills varying from about 100 mg to capsules that had 165 mg. Thus the dose this night was not exceptionally large for me.
The MDMA took a normal amount of time to kick in (~20 minutes, I had eaten a few hours earlier, but not much). Come up was particularily intense, without a doubt the most intense come up I have ever experienced (and in general, I don't much like coming up, I find it too overwhelming and erratic). At points I felt somewhat "confused" -- not clear headed as I normally feel on MDMA. This was the first time ever rolling that I felt I could not drive a car if necessary. I could walk and all that, but I was definitely slightly overwhelmed by the intensity of the high. Now, I don't particularily like feeling 'super fucked up', and had my roll been just a little stronger, I think it would have been uncomfortable.
I could definitely feel that the serotonergic aspects of the high were potentiated. The 'rushes' etc which IMO are mostly due to NE/DA effects were not intensified, but of average intensity. My euphoria however, as well as my emotional state, was extremely good, possibly better than even my first time rolling. I have had some issues rolling (my past 4 rolls or so), where I stress out and experience some anxiety, understandably dampening my mental state. I did NOT experience this during this roll, despite being amongst alot of strangers and in some weird/not-roll-inducive environments. My body high was by far and away the most intense body buzz I have ever experienced. Pleasantly so I might add.
The high lasted a normal amount of time, ~4 hours. Come down was normal/fine. During the days following the roll I felt as I normally do after a roll -- slight afterglow and no bad effects.
Tianeptine and Methamphetamine
This combo was even more interesting. The experiment was conducted a week after the MDMA experiment. ~70 mg were ingested orally (on an almost empty stomach) and about 1.5 hours later, ~15-20 mg were snorted. As a note, I had preloaded with massive amounts of vitamin C, magnesium and alpha lipoic acid, as I normally do.
As a further note, I had consumed 5 mg adderall on teusday of the previous week (the night of the meth-taking being a saturday), and of course the MDMA the week before, both of which probably have a *slight* effect on tolerance.
Now, this is more methamphetamine than I have ever taken at one time in my life, so I will factor that in. I have taken doses of 70-80 mg orally before, so I will be discussing primarily the part of the high prior to taking the 15 mg insufflated dose/supplement.
The high felt very much like rolling (as is typical with a high oral dose of meth), though with less euphoria/less body high. I was not expecting my medication to affect the meth high, so it quite surprised me that the experience felt even more like rolling than normal meth oral highs do. My mental state was EXCELLENT -- I was feeling very positive and motivated about my life. My 'head high' was definitely more euphoric than typically with meth. I would also say that I almost felt like the rushing/stimulating effects of the meth were weaker; but I feel this is because they were being overpowered by the increased serotonergic effects. Again, at points I felt very slightly 'overwhelmed/confused' which NEVER happens to me on meth -- I am always crystal clear/razor sharp. As I was feeling too much like I was 'rolling', and that had not been my intention for the night, I decided to snort some more meth (snorting usually has a very jittery/over-stimulating effect on me, which I hoped would counteract the rolling effect I was currently experiencing.). This boost of snorted meth did in fact help make the meth experience feel more methlike/less roll-like.
I might be back in a bit to add other details, but that's it for now.
Summary: Tianeptine potentiates (though not super strongly) the effects of amphetamines (including meth, MDMA).
