mdma / 5htp = brain zaps

MDMA is definetly the cause... I never got zaps until after a completely retarded 3 day binge on time on MDMA. Must have consumed approx 500-600mg a night for 3 days... I had mild depression, depersonalization, as well as zaps that lasted a few days, and we're MUCH more prevalent when I tried to fall asleep. The worst I ever experienced them was when I smoked pot 2 days after this binge; I almost had a mental breakdown they were so bad and my anxiety was so high.

The real fun however came about a month later and lasted for my entire first semester this year. Terrible out-of-body sensations while walking around, awful mood swings, depression, crippling anxiety... I am happy to say that I feel a lot more "normal" now, aside from periodical periods of depersonalization lasting no more then a few hours following nights lacking of good sleep. I am positive that a healthy diet, physical activity, time, and abstinence completely heal this problem.

MDMA is fucking awesome. Abuse it though, and it could seriously drive you to the brink of sanity...

I've had these before, but usually they're random.. this is probably the first time I've noticed and linked it to binging on mdma. Though I only did small amounts of m for 2 nights this time..
It's fucking annoying, day 3 now, and I'm getting them at least once a minute, usually when I move my head/eyes. Heard that taking omega 3-6-9 fatty acids and vitamins will help so I'm doing that but I'm wondering.. would a toke of weed or some ket make it go away temporarily? It's hardly tolerable..

imagine you are having a thought and bolt of electricity went through your brain :(
Dude no lie, i feel that shit too. like there a colt of electricity is going throu your brain..right?? happened to me when i took bout 6 skittles and a molly and smoked 2 joints

Guys 5htp releases serotonin, so you don't want to be doing it just after MDMA it makes no sense, your body has had enough allright. After rolling the best thing (IMO) is a good valium or any decent anxiolitic so you can have a good rest.
It's best to keep the 5htp for they days following the roll, the real comedown. Thats when your body is lacking serotonin, not right after a binge.

5-htp doesent release seretonin mdma does, 5-htp makes new seretonin after ur depleted thats why it helps with recovery after rolling face

It's not the 5-HTP that's causing it. However, it may exacerbate the brain zaps. The brain zaps is a withdrawal from an SSRI drug, which is basically what extacy is.

The very first time I got these horrendous brain zaps was after a 2-3 day extacy binge. I got it two days afterwards and I'm still getting the brain zaps. However, the intensity and frequency is much less. The first week, I would get them throughout the day (about 5-10 seconds apart) and they would last about 2-3 seconds. At night, it was hard to go to sleep. After the first week, the jolts were less intense but still fairly frequent.

I've combated this with Omega-3 fatty acid fish oil and vitamin supplements. I hear Vitamin B and magnesium. It helped me a lot at first as the intensity and frequency went down a lot from taking those supplements. But it seems like it can only do so much or it becomes less and less effective, because it's been over a year now and I still get them -- I have noticed a pattern on when it happens:

1. I get them in the morning when I just wake up and I still feel out of it. Turning around seems to trigger it, whether I walk and turn around a corner, or I turn my head to the left, or when I turn my eyes to the right. Once I'm fully awake and my mind and head is clear, then it goes away

2. I get them in the evening just before going to sleep, but they're triggered by loud, vibrating/echoing noises. However, if I have music, TV, or some ambient noise in the background it seems to prevent the brain zaps from occurring after I hear a loud noise. It's as if the background noise masks the loud, sharp, vibrant noise (I also have a ringing in my ear that I only notice when I go to sleep, not during the day)

3. I get them if I feel a bit anxious or stressed, or when I drink alcohol (not so much lately though).

4. There are times when I don't get them for several days, and this is usually when I'm out with friends and having fun and in a good mood.

well 5htp works for me ish

SWIM gets these HORRIFIC whole body zaps for about two months after the smallest contact with mdma, even when a single crystal touches his tongue! This has happened for years and he has just put up with it because he doesnt roll that often but loves it when he does. Now he had 2g of FINE md over the weekend and the zaps began the morning after. But if he has 100mg of 5HTP 3 -4 times aday they really do significantly subside.

i don't know much about 5htp except its helping me ten fold, seems to make me happier as well (obvs) lol. but is it safe to take up to 400mg aday? if he has 100 mg the zaps go away or reduce for about 4-5 hours then i have to re-dose.

peace brothers

Lol I like how you used SWIM then went back to talking in first person. If you get brain zaps from just taking a normal dose then something is wrong. This type of thing usually arises because of abuse, not just use. You stated that you took 2 grams over the weekend? I would call that abuse... heavy abuse. Don't roll two days in a row, learn harm reduction methods on this website, and you shouldn't have this problem. Do you wait a month in between doses? Do you re-dose? These are important questions that may determine why you are getting these zaps. I've also never heard of "whole body zaps".

I used to get these A LOT when I abused the stuff very badly for basically a year straight.

It was completely due to the MDMA abuse. If your getting these, maybe look into how much your rolling. More then once every 6 weeks is to much.

I was doing it twice a week almost every week for a year straight though. I'm glad I've learned from that, and a long time has passed since then. Still though, mdma alone gave me brain zaps. Also euphoric waves upon hearing certain songs when I was sober as well.

Lesson learned, go ahead and use, but don't abuse.

after i roll wen i pass out on my back i will out of nowhere bcome consious & can see a lil bit but have horrible tunnel vision and wont b able 2 take a breath or move more than just wiggle my hand for a few seconds. this does not happen wen sleeping on my side. is this wut u r talking about or am i experiencing sumthing unique. it scares me pretty bad wen i cant breath, its like my body is failing to restart properly. it doesnt happen my first sleep after rolling but the second sleep. cuz i usally pass out wen im still coming down.

I have similar experiences after rolling. Almost like I can feel my body shutting down for sleep but am still conscious of it, and strangely enough it only happens if I'm laying on my back.

i used to get these years ago when i was young and reckless i wud take mdma maybe 40 percent of the days in a month simply because i always had it... i think it can also be due to lack of sleep as well. the most memorable time it happened i was sitting on the sofa after a session that lasted about 3 days, i was watching madagascar drinking a full pint of water and started to drop off, done a huge jolt and threw the entire glass of water over myself and my friend... was actually pretty funny! haha

i do still get them totally random times but not very often, my gf does not find it funny when i wake her up flinging my arms round the bed

i have been experiencing the brain/body zaps for 4 dasy now. previous to those 4 day i had a 2 or 3 day binge on md (and a few other substances). my friend got what he called "jidders" the day after taking E and they soon developed into epilepsy :/ im not sure if that was directly related to taking E but the way he described the jidders was exactly like these brain zaps! and he gets them before he has a fit sometimes.

I can also relate when people talk about being paralysed almost when they lay on their back. that is infact sleep paralysis which is terrifying. (iv had it twice in the past 4 days). the part of the brain that stops your body from reacting physically to dreams is still active while you are consious so essencially your awake while asleep and this can feel very strange as you cant move at all but can get hallucinations.

basically the thing to do is limit you mdma use to once a month or even less!

i just posted a thread which got deleted after they linked me to this thread. even though this thread hasnt answerd my question! :/ what suppliment could heal my seratonin receptors fast and stop these zaps???? and when should i take them?

Pretty sure some in this thread have said 5-htp helps, some have said it does not, and others have said Piracetam helps.

I know the BL search engine is hard to use, but at least try...

im gona get some 5-htp see how that helps. i searched 5-htp and literally nothing relivant appeared. that is why i took the time to create a new thread because mayby others are pondering on the same question? it seems my thread was deleted in seconds lol

Headfuck's question does raise another for me:

I don't come to these forums often, and it seems that people always used to swear by 5-htp AFTER rolling to help with the after-effects (I know that BEFORE a roll ["pre-loading"] has always been controversial), but now it seems that most people are saying 5-htp either doesn't work, or is harmful, and everyone now seems to be swearing by Piracetam.

What's the deal?

hmm i think i got the wrong idea with 5-htp.

As far as im aware it converts into seratonin but surely that will only put a furter strain on your brain even if it produces even more seratonin on top of the emount produced through mdma use?

please correct me if im wrong because i would rather a suppliment that "heals" that part of my brain and makes it more healthy so that i can use mdma again without constantly adding damge to my brain.
