So to start, I am cautious with any new drug and find as much information as I can before ever taking taking it (or decide it's not worth it). I am pretty experienced with LSD and mushrooms and have overcome some challenges with anxiety attacks (which I used to get sober and on LSD) and I decided to consider MDMA.

I have read but haven't found much information that MDMA can interact with one of my medications in hormone replacement therapy; specifically, I take 200mg spironolactone as an anti-androgen but it is also a potassium sparing diuretic (I don't normally notice the diuretic effect and pee 4 to 6 times a day); I do get regular blood tests that show a history that my potassium levels are consistently normal. I have read in another post that spironolactone and mdma compete for the same enzyme; I do also know that I have to be more careful with my electrolytes and not take in potassium but at least keep my sodium levels up (sodium/potassium imbalance can be serious - my water intake includes a little bit of added salt as well) knowing this, the first time I took MDMA (about a month and a half ago) I was cautious and took 40mg with my girlfriend (she is experienced with it and took more than I did). I didn't experience much of anything: maybe placebo, maybe barely perceptible. We took it again together a couple weeks later but that time I took 80mg; the come up was a bit intense until I peaked but then after that I relaxed. Since my girlfriend was there, my brain was releasing endorphins as well and it made my time with her quite magical.

This past weekend I did MDMA twice. Friday night I took 65mg and got a mild high and relaxing high. But, Saturday night I went a bit heavy.

I took 85mg to start which got me sky high with an intense rush on the come up which felt almost overwhelming; I got some anxiety and was close to having an anxiety attack. My experiences with LSD has taught me how to remain calm and the anxiety faded within 20 minutes. At one point I checked my pulse (which has gotten me in more trouble with anxiety attacks in the past) and counted out under 120 for a full minute: elevated but seemed fine considering the substance, dancing, and anxiety (anxiety alone with no intake of any substance can raise my heart rate to 120ish); after I calmed down my heart rate decreased as well to about 100. For the rest of the night I didn't worry about my pulse.

During the plateau my pupils had dilated. I have this LED colour changing orb made of small rubber pellets that diffuse the light but there are also gaps between the pellets so I can see the direct light from the LED. I had it on but I wasn't really paying attention to it. I walk downstairs to the kitchen to refill my water (and add about a 1/4 teaspoon of salt to it) and go back upstairs. As I was walking past the orb (still not really paying attention to it) I see these beams of light coming towards my eyes. I wasn't sure if I saw them or I imagined them.

My first instinct was to look at the orb. But when I had looked at it, there wasn't a direct path from the LED to my eyes so the light I was seeing was diffused and didn't produce the effect. I walked past the again and saw the beams again. I quickly figured it out from there that I had to look between the gaps. I was mesmerized by the beams of light. When more than one colour was turned on I could see distinct colours in different beams. A bit later, I looked outside (out a back window) and all the street lights looked sparkly.

Later I looked out a front window and to look at the stars but I couldn't see stars. There were no clouds but I couldn't see stars; it was very strange not to see stars so I didn't look out the window any longer.

About 2.5 hours since I peaked, I decided to redose with another 65mg. That brought me back up but not as much as I would have liked and waited another 2 hours before taking another 80mg; that was decent as well and enjoyable. After another 2 hours, I talked myself into taking another 105mg. For the rest of the night/morning I played Hero's of the Storm for a couple hours (which I've just started playing casually) and decided to go to sleep after that. It was a bit hard to get to sleep and it took my another couple hours to fall asleep.

Sunday afternoon, I did end up regretting redosing as much as I did. I woke up with a little bit of a headache - though a cup of coffee and thinking about my girlfriend (releasing endorphins) quickly made the headache go away. I did have some residual visuals on Sunday night and even had some audible hallucinations (sounds not voices) as I was falling asleep but I quickly got to sleep.

Today at work, I did have some troubles concentrating at times but when I got into the swing of things my concentration was there; though, when I lost it, it took a little focus to get it back. This (Monday) evening, I still have some visual disturbances and a couple bouts of anxiety (which I quickly overcome) but the effects are certainly less than yesterday. I know I've thrown my brain way of balance and need to let my serotonin transports and receptors up-regulate again over the next 6 weeks before considering doing MDMA again. I over did it this time and it's not something I'm going to repeat to such an extreme. I'm usually pretty sensible in my drug use but for whatever reason when I was high I wanted to keep rolling. The worst part of the experience was my mouth. I didn't clench too much or too hard but I kept biting my lip (not hard but repeatedly). The clenching wasn't so much an issue since I've been clenching since I was kid and have learned to not do it as much or as hard. I catch myself putting my teeth together and then I'll loosen up before putting too much pressure; not clenching on MDMA wasn't much of an issue either but the lip biting is a little uncomfortable (again not hard, ended up with several small scratches on the inside of my bottom lip).

Overall, I enjoyed the experience but I also don't want to repeat the experience to this extreme either. I should really limit my use and fequency of MDMA, especially considering I am taking a prescription that has an interaction with MDMA.

I'll see how I feel by the weekend but I may even take it easy with my regular LSD use for this coming weekend or even not trip at all until the following weekend just so I can recover.

yes mdma and many empathogens cause a rushed come up untill its over and the empathy kicks in.
you dosed way to close to one another, but for your first doing doing it from now on wait a minium of three months in between rolls, that means wait uite a while to roll again, preferally three months or longer

as far as the dose.you must be senstiive, which is a good thing, means youll need less. redosing isnt the best idea, its only good if your at a 4 on a scale of 1-10 and want to bring it up more....if you ve expirienced an 8 no f*ck*ng need to go higher its pointless and can cause more sides. One dose off the bat is good, if your stuff is pure, and tested-which is mandatory, and you are responsible and take adaquate breaks, and take a normal dose then no reason why you can feel the effects well

Yes, I did take it too frequently despite telling myself to take at least 6 weeks between doses. But, I do have to say that once my mood rebounded midweek I was so happy. I mean literally, my mood was seemed like it was above baseline and I felt very happy and cheerful. It was a pretty neat experience. I haven't touched it since then and I don't plan on taking anymore for a little while.

I did more searching to find out if my prescription does interact with mdma; I did make reference to something someone else said in another post but they didn't have any references (and I don't really like quoting or making reference to something itself doesn't have references or some data to back it up). I searched for research but no luck on that front :( But, I did find datasheets on spironolactone and mdma. From what I can infer from the datasheets is that there is interaction between the 2 drugs with each of their effects on metabolic action.

"Spironolactone is transformed to a reactive metabolite that can inactivate adrenal and testicular cytochrome P450 enzymes" [http://www.drugbank.ca/drugs/DB00421] and MDMA is primarily metabolized by the CYP450 enzymes, especially CYP2D6" [http://www.drugbank.ca/drugs/DB01454]. To what degree the interaction is, I don't know. Also noted in the datasheet is that spironolactone's bio-availability can be increased by up to 100% if taken with food.

MDMA Mechanism of Action: "It enters neurons via carriage by the monoamine transporters. Once inside, MDMA inhibits the vesicular monoamine transporter, which results in increased concentrations of serotonin, norepinephrine, and dopamine into the cytoplasm, and induces their release by reversing their respective transporters through a process known as phosphorylation." [http://www.drugbank.ca/drugs/DB01454]

With enzymes being inactivated by spironolactone's metabolite and mdma's metabolite further inhibiting the CYP2D6 enzyme and increasing the blood concentration of mdma, the combination may potentiate the effects of mdma.

Disclaimer: I'm not an expert on the topic of drug interactions nor do I claim to have interpreted the datasheets correctly.

So for me, it makes sense that 85mg is a strong dose and seemed like an 8 out of 10 :P and I'm so glad that I take things slow and start with a low dose, especially when there's a possibility of a drug interaction.

That's a really good point about sitting at an 8/10 and no point to redose; as I found out, it didn't really add anything more to experience but did make me crash pretty hard. Next time I do it, it'll just be the one dose and then a nice break until next :) I'll be sticking to my LSD (and mushrooms) on a weekly basis, well 2 times each weekend (for me that's more than enough time to reset my tolerance - I've been using LSD with this pattern for 9 months, keeping my doses the same accounting for tolerance the 2nd day). I'm pretty comfortable with those 2 and I haven't experienced side effects for such frequent use. I'll treat mdma as a novelty from now on :)

As for testing, I always do and always will; I never want to put some RC in my body. My assumption is that it's an RC until ruled out.
