I know of course it can be, but I have also heard that many times it isn't. Is it more risky to buy white mdai than tan/brown? I keep hearing things like "it can be bleached", and that even a 1% impurity would turn it brown. It is VERY hard to tell myth from reality with this particular substance. I hear Marquis should turn red, no purple, no black, no, it shouldn't have a color change at all (all I've figured out for sure it that yellow/orange= caths). I don't know whether brown or white mdai is actually more pure, or whether "market grade" mdai is even white or brown at all. I have checked erowid, but am totally stumped about this subject.

Basically, I want to know about the color of MDAI. Is 95% pure MDAI "pure enough" to not get sick? Would it still have a white appearance or would it have to be brown (because one batch is said to be of that purity and is white... it will definitely be tested with reagents...but I don't even know what to look for).

[ mod edit ]: The question that is being asked here is: what are the physical properties of pure MDAI? Color, density, etc? Perhaps a Shulgin Index citation?

Wow, what a confusing substance! I even got in touch with David E Nichols, in an attempt to ask HIM :P

If you are pestering Dr. Nichols over MDAI, you need to re-evaluate your drug usage...
