Can anyone tell me what's the current consensus on the appearance vs. quality of MDAI? I ordered it just once, recently (for combos), but what really surprised me was the texture. I've read everything there is about this topic, but found nothing definite. From the posts on the web it look more like the white/crystally variety is bogus. Those are some old posts, though. I'm just curious as to how the situation and greater consensus look like now.
From the feedbacks on the vendor's site, it looks like people are very satisfied. As I said, I'm just curious and perhaps this description will help somebody else to identify the correct (or wrong) product.
- It's not a typical powder, it is rather fine, but seems a little bit porous. Overall, it's completely homogeneous and dark brown in color, but here and there you can see small specks of yellow/golden color. Those look harder than the rest. It clumps a tiny bit, but not because it's wet (it's not wet at all), more like because of the light, fluffy texture. There are harder "rocks" in it here and there that can be crushed easily, containing the same dark brown substance. I guess 4g's are about the size of 6g's of MXE, for comparison, so it definitely has lower density than most other RC's.
- The color is little darker than fine instant chocolate powder like Nesquik, or about on par with ground coffee. It doesn't look like it dissolves in plain water, put under tongue it moderately stings/burns and is moderately bitter.
- The odor is non-specific, mildly chemical, with perhaps a tiny bit acidic undertone.
