Having tried a combination of 120 mg 4-FA and 150 mg MDAI a few days before to very good effect (I'll type up a trip report on that one when I perfect the ratio) I decided to explore the combination using a more selective NDRA, amphetamine (Adderall IR). Tolerance probably affected the latter experience, but the difference between the two was so stark that I can hardly ascribe it to just that.

T-1:30: I insufflate 30 mg amphetamine in liquid form as an experiment in extraction. Effect of maybe 20 mg is felt.

T+0:00: I take 45 mg amphetamine in an IR tablet and 200 mg MDAI in a capsule at once, with a stack of antioxidants.

T+0:45: Effects begin. I certainly feel good, but it feels like mostly only an amphetamine high.

T+1:20: Feeling good still, but rather narcissistic. I don't enjoy the fact that I feel only interested in myself. This is definitely not an empathogenic high. I do experience the effect of the MDAI clearly: I feel relaxed and content doing whatever. But this and the stimulant high seem to just exist side by side, they don't combine at all like in a good entactogenic high.

T+1:45: I go out and hang out with friends, tossing 100 mg of MDAI power directly from my scale to my mouth before I leave. By T+2:15 the sociability is already fading like that induced by amphetamine alone, or maybe even earlier.

T+2:10: I go to a small concert: it's fun, I dance, and manage to squeeze one or two pleasant body tingles out of the experience. But, I'm focused on my swollen libido like I would be on amph alone.

T+2:30: I leave the concert and have an extremely interesting conversation with a friend, which I enjoy a lot. But again, this is more tweaked-out philosophizing than an entactogen bonding experience.

T+3:15: After adventuring around with a group of friends-of-friends, the effects end and I am left feeling extremely bored. Sleep is attained rather easily an hour later.

The striking thing about this was how much the MDAI and amph did not go together. I ended up just wishing that I had taken amph alone, because this felt like such a disjointed experience. Again, maybe this was tolerance, but I doubt it. I never accrued such strong tolerance to MDAI so quickly (my doses might seem a little high, but I have a very high baseline tolerance to serotonergics). The best example of an experience in which stimulation and entactogen properties do combine is 4-FA taken alone, actually: the entactogen effects aren't super pronounced in terms of extreme anxiolysis/altered cognition/sedation, but what there is synergizes so well with the stimulant side that it's an extremely enjoyable experience with empathy, body tingles, visual changes, and the whole 9 yards. So if you have 4-FA, amphetamine, and MDAI, either take the 4-FA with the MDAI, or take the amph alone.

I found 120 mg 4-FA and 150 mg MDAI to be very fun, but if I were to do it again I might actually do a little less 4-FA and a little more MDAI, because I actually felt pretty stimulated (more than with MDMA or 120 mg 4-FA alone). But who knows how it would work; since 4-FA seems to bring a special component to the mix, reducing the amount might make it less fun.

That's too bad. I found MDAI combined with dexedrine to be very similar too MDMA...even superior in a couple of ways: the duration appeared increased, the after-effects reduced.

This may be why it was disappointing. Serotonin takes a couple months to rebound fully. The combo may be worth another shot if you lay off all serotonin releasers (esp. pretty strong ones like MDAI, never mind 4-FA + MDAI a few days beforehand) for at least solid month before you try it again. I think what you're calling tolerance may just be low serotonin.

Well, with non-toxic serotonin releasing agents (assuming they don't cause toxicity when combined, which there is some reason to think since neither seems to form oxidative metabolites) whole-tissue serotonin should return to normal within a few days at most, if humans are anything like mice. But I think you're right that having dosed a few days before played a role; the serotonin system in particular is very fickle in terms of tolerance. Perhaps I'll give this another shot, but for now I'd rather play with 4-FA/MDAI :)
