You hear all about people abusing the shit out of MDMA and "losing the magic." But what about MDA? What happens when you take IT too much (on a weekly basis for example)? Do the crashes get worse? Do the effects lessen? I've seen a few people on here say it doesn't really build a tolerance like MDMA, even when using frequently. That makes a bit of sense because I thought MDA was heavier on dopamine, which regenerates more quickly. Any thoughts/experiences?

I was under the impression MDA was also a stronger 5-HT2A agonist like typical psychedelics and this would be a mechanism that you couldn't lose the magic with permanently. But MDA can still be pretty harmful.

When has anyone ever said that mda does not build tolerance? I've been around here for a long time and I can't remember anyone.

Mdma and mda are cross tolerant so if you have a tolerance to mdma...you have one to mda too.

Tolerance really is not the side effect you should be worried about. Neurotoxicity and depression and cognitive difficulties and mood swings and anxiety...The list goes on....These are what are in store for you if you are abusing mdma or mda at that level

They work in a similar way so assume the 'magic loss' can be a problem with both substances. MDA is considered to be much more neurotoxic than MDMA so I assume this 'loss of magic' and increase in negative side effects and after effects would happen quicker with MDA if that is indeed true. If MDMA is supposed to be dosed every 6 weeks to 3 months or less, I would guess MDA is probably best used only once or twice a year max for the best safety, assuming it is indeed more neurotoxic (MAPS seem to think it is so I'm inclined to agree with them). As an interesting side though, Shulgin did claim to have found that MDMA and MDA are not cross tolerant

I guess I'm just asking because (for me) MDA feels like a sort of chaotic psychedelic speed. Less mushy and empathic (serotonin), and more electric and chargey (dopamine). Its peak is usually more drawn out too, so maybe redosing throughout the roll would work better than with MDMA? No doubt in my mind it's still pretty bad for you, I'm just wondering if these qualities might make MDA more abusable like meth or regular d-amp. I don't ever want to try abusing it, I'm just curious as to how the character of the drug changes when you do.

It's the same. The more you use the higher your tolerance and less effects. You will lose the magic on mda just like mdma. Abusing will fuck up your receptors in your drain just like mdma. The consequences of abuse are the same...
