MD, Baltimore - 06.18.05 - Ultraworld presents STARSCAPE @ Ft Armistead Park *REVIEW*

Damn it. I took all of my pictures without the scavenger hunt in mind...perhaps I inadvertently got some anyway. :p

I generally hate electronica and even I thought last years music was far and away better than this years.

Eh, I don't really give a shit about that though...I went for the people and the venue itself. What other venue can you stand on the habor and see the sun rise? I didn't think the bathrooms were bad at all, of course, I'm a veteran festival goer and I've seen porto-potties that make the ones at Starscape seem like they came with your own personal ass wiping servant. And no ATMs? Eh, you should have brought cash in with you...even if they had ATMs, the service charge would have been an arm and a leg. Any idiot should know that about large events like this.

Hey don't say that shit. There should have been an ATM. I don't like service charges but it couldn't have been as bad as this $3 charge I had in Miami :\
I did bring money but I spent it all.

When I go out I only go for the music. Being social isn't a priority to me. don't get me wrong because I am social and friendly but good music pleases and inspires me more than people. I have few friends and I am content with that. I spend most of my time wrapping myself with d&b.

I personally didn't like it because of the music. Its always the same 10 big names spinning out. I am just tired because all they play is the same styles of tracks. I wouldn't mind if they mixed it up, there are soo many beautiful new tracks out there that I KNOW will have the crowd going nuts but I didn't hear ANY them or anything of those flavors. I should have known because every time I hear the same 10-15 big name guys playing out (at smaller parties lately) they all spin the same tracks, same styles of d&b, basically the same sets.

Besides the d&b I wasn't feeling, and feeling more grimy than a krusty..I had a good time. I cant let the bad beats get me down. I view it as you learn from your mistakes. I learned that I definitely not into this type of parties. I learned to only go out to smaller events with Dj's who play a variety of tracks or styles I am into. My assumptions were correct that these same Djs will never go for a variety. I know I am going out if its people who spin what I like.

I hope everyone had a nice time. I wasn't trying to offend anyone by what I said before. "Any idiot should know that about large events like this" don't ever call me an idiot unless you want your ass kicked by a girl! The only reason I feel like an idiot is because I actually went to this Knowing that it probably was only going to be the same clownstep/jump up type bullshit, alright. I feel like an idiot because I was a "raver" years and years ago. I feel like an idiot because I there are d&b DJs out there who I am way more into, and I still wasted my money knowing that it probably was going to be the same bullshit styles.:p
~take it easy

^ hey everyone is entitle to their own opinion about things.

But those of us who have always had an unbelievably amazing time at Starscape in past years, really just can't relate to what you're bitching about.

As I've mentioned, I wasn't able to go this year (:( x infinity), but I went the 4 years before. The first 2 years, the music was fucking phenomonal and the party was just beyond describable. But, the past 2 years, I've found myself becoming a little more detatched from "the scene" (:p) BUT that didn't even matter because I had no time or attention span to concentrate on the music, because the people I was with took up all my time and energy. And that, for me, was by far the best part of the party! :D Hell, my 2 favorite DJs spun last year at Starscape and I remember only being impressed for a few minutes, and only dancing for about 1/2 hr. And that felt like an eternity to be away from my group ;)

With what happened to Crow, I'm glad I didn't wake up to find someone taking pictures of my 'piercing that never sees daylight' considering I have no piercings but wouldn't put it past you to poke me just for a few more scavenger hunt points.

Btw, that shade of blue really did look good on him. But I'd want the other half painted orange, and I'd find his marker next time and cover him with UF slogans :D (Hey Crow, say hello to V for me :D )

dnb90210 - everyone goes for their own reasons. I guess we placed less expectations on the music than most, and we put more importance on being with friends we hadn't seen in forever while meeting new ones. :\ To each their own. I hope you find your happiness chasing beats at the smaller venues. Who knows, you might find some of us stumbling in there as well, partly for the beats, partly to make you enjoy more of the social aspect ;)

I came away with only two thoughts regarding everyone (and I do mean EVERYONE) that I met with. 1) Damn, I wish I had more time, they were really cool. 2) Damn, how long until I can see them again? Good people make good times and good memories. Miss you all already.

I'm normally not a drum and bass fan. Have never heard it live. Anyway, I stopped by the drum and bass tent for a quick peek and ended up staying there dancing by myself for maybe an hour. I rather liked what I was hearing. I don't know jack about dnb, but I'm willing to give it another chance after the set I heard.

anyone bitching about the music obviously didnt see ming & fs on the hiphop stage. =D
