Hey,

I don't think this is against forum rules but please advise....I am going to be losing my insurance in the next 2 weeks and will need my Psych to prescribe a 3 month prescription for my meds.

My question is, what is the maximum alloted amount of meds he can prescribe for a 3 month period ( Can it be longer than 3 months)? It's for Amphetamine and Benzo's. Please advise ASAP as I would like to email him, shortly. Thanks, Guys.

Cheers

Tomer

IIRC he should be able to write you three months worth of scripts for benzos (sch. 4) but not amphetamine (sch. 2).

Whether your insurance will cover that many is a different question .

He can write 3 months worth for both. Usually what they do at least in my case is tripple your 1 month prescription amount. About 2 years ago I went on vacation and got 300 xanax, the pharmacist shit there pants lol.

you can tell him about yer insurance or that you'd like to get it bulk so yu can save money. the more yu buy the cheaper it gets..

Thanks, Guys. My real question is, what is the max amount of pills that can be prescribed within those 3 months? My psych is very understanding but he doesn't know this type of information off hand.

Cheers
I guess I don't understand what you're asking. As far as I know there isn't a set limit on how many pills he can prescribe you in 3 months. But there is certainly a limit on how many he WILL prescribe. How many that is depends on the Dr. and your tolerance.

Frying, I was under the impression that there were limitations on how much someone could be prescribed of a drug per month? Maybe I am wrong?

Perhaps, or maybe I'm the one who's wrong. But if there are certainly limits to how much the docter will write. If you OD he gets sued, among other things.

While there are certain guidelines for the maximum amount you should use of a certain drug in a 24-hour period, there is nothing that says the doctor can only prescribe you a certain amount monthly. They could prescribe you 600 or 6000 pills if they wanted to, but would more than likely have the DEA come and shut them down.
