Opioids Max Tramadol ED?

What is the max tramadol you can take in one day? I used to do oxy 60-120mg ED but was able to do subs and get off them....I used tramadols to get off the subs and for pain...I find myself taking 4 50mg tabs in the morning and then another 2-3 throughout the day (max of like 400mgED) is this bad? Are these hard to get off of? I dont get high just helps with pain and actually motivates me to do things. My doc wrote me a script for 4 a day im not sure if i should tell him that i need a few more or what..
 
400mg per day is the maximum recommended (due to seizure risks associated with high doses of Tramadol). However, some people have had seizures at lower doses.
