I've been studying for about one week abusing ritalin, taking about 50mg/day snorted/drunk..:(. Now thanks to my inability to control myself (stop studying while on it) I only have 2 concerta 36mg tablets with time release (never tried them while not on ritalin, so don't really know the effects) and 15mg ritalin powder. It's 9 in the evening, I figured going to bed, waking up around 4 in the morning drinking half of the ritalin taking one pill study, then take the other pill before the exam. In the end drink the remining of the ritalin during the exam break. The exam is from 8:30 until 11:30 and starts again from 1 until 2 in the afternoon. Any advices? I'm 18 years old muscular, normal weight.

Concerta is extended release Ritalin (methylphenidate). They're both the same drug. Concerta is considerably smoother and longer lasting than Ritalin is. Concerta is designed for once-daily dosing (usually in the morning, as the duration is 8-12 hours or so).

If you're planning on studying for the exam tonight, I would take the Ritalin tonight, then one of the Concertas tomorrow (because the Ritalin is instant release, and the Concerta is extended-release and since your exam seems like a pretty long one, you'll probably do better with the smooth extended release of the Concerta).

Since this is a simple dosing question, I'm going to move it over to Basic Drug Discussion

Thanks I posted this in the homeless thread first, but noone moved it.

The reason why I don't want to take the ritalin now is because I'm scared I won't be able to sleep :/

There is a risk of that, but methylphenidate has a pretty short duration of action and half-life (3 hours ish I think) so as long as you leave enough time before bed it shouldn't be too much of a problem - I can never sleep well the night before an exam anyway though, so I can understand not wanting to potentially make that worse..

It's up to you - if you think you can sleep now for sure then maybe go for it, I don't think I'd like to sit an exam having been up studying on stims since 4am though.. To be honest I'd probably skip the Ritalin alltogether, do what you can tonight, rest well, get up early (not 4am though) and use a Concerta tomorrow.. but it's your choice.

Good luck with the exam! :)
