Massive doses at very young age

that article is full of shit. anti drug propaganda bullshit. who the fuck reads that shit.

but yeh psychedelics are something i believe kids should not be fucking with. i first smoked ganja at 15 and wish i had waited til i was at least 18.

Can you explain where you see propaganda.

'foaming at the mouth', 'released the following day' - that'll do it for me.

They aren't vilifying anyone or anything.

seem like lsd is copping the wrap, what the fuck have the parents been teaching the kids for the past 7+ yrs. what do you think when you read the article? i gleaned from it that lsd is bad and yeh that it was an unfortunate incident.

by age 7 i thought most kids would have been taught not to find shit on the street and ingest it, especially from funny little bottles. and where were the parents anyway?

He says the boys' mother and her live-in boyfriend tested negative for drugs and there were no issues inside the home.

it wasnt the parents fault it was the devil drug lsd.

it sad to hear about incidents like this but you can hardly blame lsd for the situation.

I think it's always prudent to look with a critical eye at articles like this: local news, no names or sources, sparse on details, what little detail there is seem out of place (foaming at the mouth?)...

I'm not saying the article isn't truthful, I'm just saying that surely we've all read enoug terrible news articles about drugs to know that fact-checking is sometimes set aside in favor of spectacle.

Dude you're tripping? I don't see anything demonizing LSD... not from what could have been there, at least.

Foaming from the mouth... have you ever been in that kind of state? And when you didn't even know it would happen? Yeah, you'll probably think you're going crazy and act as such..

and "released the next day".... well what, should they have been kept there longer than they needed to be? :\

It's a rather unfortunate event... but let's just all be glad it wasn't NBOMe though.

i guess its open to interpretation.

foaming at the mouth one day, released the next.

and "released the next day".... well what, should they have been kept there longer than they needed to be?

lol, who could afford that in the land of the free? didn't mention anything about insurance for poisoning.

who or what is copping the rap, or is it just an informative piece about an unfortunate incident? from a critical analysis perspective, what is the point the author is attempting to convey?

As far as I can see the only symptoms are "foaming at the mouth and hallucinating". Is there any evidence whatsoever that what these two fuckwits took was LSD?

It could have been any poison known to man. I have never, repeat NEVER heard of LSD making anyone foam at the mouth - that's pretty much 100% evidence that it wasn't LSD.

I wouldn't rely too much on fucking cops and judges to diagnose LSD poisoining - those fucking idiots make their living from demonising drugs.

its a short bulrb stating what happened. I didnt get any sort demonization of LSD from the article.
All they did was mention LSD as the cause for what happened.
Propaganda would read more like, "one child ate the others heart before jumping from a window thinking he was a glass of orange juice who could fly."

things like this happen, and it really sucks, but kids do get into drugs. And psychedelics arent completely harmless as some like to believe.
This is coming from someone who holds psychedelics in very high regard.

propaganda - 'information, ideas, or rumors deliberately spread widely to help or harm a person, group, movement, institution, nation, etc.'

from the article i interpet the cause or problem of the incident to be lsd, to me thats the message being conveyed, to me thats anti lsd propaganda. its a little more subtle than your fine 'in your face' example but imo still propaganda.
imo its not lsd's fault some kids od'd on it. example do guns kill people, no people kill people with guns. ya follow the tangent?
i agree accidents do happen and its a shame...no amount of laws, legislation, rules, or regulations will ever stamp out accidents, thats life.
kids do get into drugs even with all the anti drug shit spread all over the place...so why do we keep on with the scare tactics, it obviously doesnt work. id rather see honest and open discussion and education around all drugs. drugs are a part of life they cannot just be swept under a blanket of bullshit and fear.
i completely agree psychedelics are not completely harmless. kids should definitely not be taking them unless under very special circumstances.
i never woulda pictured you being a psych lover delsyd hehe. i also hold psychs in high regard and have the upmost respect for them. :)

Foaming at the mouth? Did they contract rabies while they were tripping?

"Rushed to the hospital"... oh drama. LSD is non-toxic. I'm sure it was intense for them but there's probably no harm done.

I think that the article should be praised for not sensationalizing the story.
Agreed. I don't think anyone on this board questions the pervasiveness of antidrug propoganda, but given how ripe this particular story is for exploitation, I think the author/editor showed admirable restraint. They easily could have launched into a discourse on HPPD and a host of other supposed or actual potential consequences of LSD but did not.

If anything, I'd view this as pro-LSD (albeit unintentionally): a young kid takes a massive dose of LSD and is back on his feet the next day, with nary a mention of any deleterious effects.

In short, let's save the cries of propaganda for occasions when they're actually warranted; lord knows there's no shortage of those.

And with that, I'd like to gently redirect this thread to it's initial purpose: has anyone taken (or been dosed with) a large dose of psychedelics at a very young age?

I imagine that you don't have children?

I would hope that any parent would rush their 7 year old to the hospital after drinking an unknown bottle that is making them act strangely.
Drinking a bottle of LSD could easily make someone foam at the mouth. All of the reported deaths from LSD have included 'foaming at the mouth' on the coroners report. They obviously took a massive dose - tens of milligrams. I think that the article should be praised for not sensationalizing the story.

have you got a reference for this? i have not read of that before, people eat crystal and dont foam at the mouth. praised for not sensationalising, wow media is that bad hey.

there is no such thing. lsd showed me this. :)

i still read the issue being with lsd and not the parents lack of supervision. go figure.

The way i read it was that they just stated what happened without vilifying the parents or LSD.
Kids are dumb and will eat shit they find on the floor, its not the parents fault either.
We also dont know for a fact that it was LSD that caused the foaming at the mouth. It could have been one of the many other ultra potent psychedelics going around right now, some that are not as safe as LSD and perhaps could lead to foaming from the mouth.
To me propaganda reads more like "one kid ate the others heart before jumping from a window thinking he was a glass of orange juice that could fly."

A love-sick 18 year old with neo-Nazi tendencies is probably a much better victim! =D
I wonder what psychedelics do to neo-nazis. Do they have racist trips or do they see the error in their ways etc? When I take psychedelics, I see all the ways in which I'm a prick towards other people and I repent and redeem myself then and there. I wonder if the same happens with real assholes like neo-nazis.

exactly, so why drop it on lsd? wouldnt poison or at least psychedelic have sufficed?

propaganda - 'information, ideas, or rumors deliberately spread widely to help or harm a person, group, movement, institution, nation, etc.'

propaganda - information, especially of a biased or misleading nature, used to promote a political cause or point of view - oxford dictionary.

adults responsibility to supervise/take care of?
