Mass Shooting and Gun Control Megathread

I’m not sure if I’m misreading you here but he did go shoot two doctors and two other people and then topped himself. The police found a note on his body alluding to planning to kill the doctor who gave him the surgery, and he saw him the day before he killed these people because his pain was real bad apparently.

My hypothesizing that he didn’t receive proper pain treatment isn’t fact but I don’t think it’s far fetched. I’ve wanted to curse out a doctor before, I’m sure some people get madder than that at doctors in these times.
Oh my bad, I must have overlooked the Tulsa part and was assuming the one in Texas

I don’t determine salary, but I would feel better with someone at the school armed in case of a situation like this, or even teachers being able to have a gun in a bolted down lock box
1) Many schools, at least urban, already have armed guards. They are called resource officers. Many school districts have their own police departments separate from the city's department. There was an armed resource officer at the Uvalde school. He apparently engaged the attacker outside the school and was either shot or shot at and did not enter the school once the attacker was inside. In this case, the armed guard failed but at least not for lack of trying. The bigger failure was the actual police department waiting an hour to engage the attacker that had been inside the school for an hour.

2) I find it ironic that a lot of the same talking heads promoting arming teachers simultaneously do not trust teachers who are groomers by teaching sex ed, racist by teaching American history aka CRT, or heathens for teaching evolutionary science. Indoctrinating kids to become godless gay socialists. These are the very same teachers they trust with guns now? Sorry. Does not compute.

There were 12 multiple victim shooting incidents involving a total 59 victims so far in 2022 that occurred in Chicago. None of these were reported in the Media as "Mass Shootings" because they all involved gang members on the south side.

Why didn't they choose to include these crimes? What was their criteria? Why doesn't the Mayor address this ? Did the strict gun control laws in Chicago help? If not what will?

I am sorry to stick my oar in but I have held my tongue with respect to Chicago until now and its these talking points, such as the one above, that need addressing. Chicago is having and has had real serious problems but the fact of the matter is that a certain ilk always brings up the crime in this city as a 'whataboutism' during discussions around mass violence and there is only one reason for this dog whistle.

Chicago is not the most violent city on the US, in fact it is not even close and has not been for sometime. It is not even in the top ten in any recent polls and while more violent than many places it still only ranks 28th on this list by ABC from February...

I hope I have made my point, despite being nothing more than an international observer with a vested interest in the survival of the republic....

I live in Chicago, so do my children and grand children. So, Yeah, I'm pretty selfish in bringing this up.

NYC wasn't even on that list

that's really good

probably because of all the cops on the streets post 9-11

Republican Congressman Blames Mass Shootings on Women Having Rights

According to Representative Billy Long, abortions, not guns, are the problem.
So far this week I've seen Republicans blame LGBTQ+ people, declining church attendance, marijuana, this, and my personal favorite from Donald Trump: the erosion of the traditional family unit--- this from the man with kids from three different wives.

Lol yeah, just a few weeks ago Fox was running pro-cannabis stories... Then right after the shootings they start talking about the obvious link between cannabis and violence

Lmao

Lol, my state is on the list five times but my city somehow isn't

yea Dayton and Cincinnati too

Dayton really surprised me - i was there for 2 weeks for a class - it was a super laid back small town to me idk

ppl were friendly - i liked it there - a little too boring for me at the time but i liked it - i think that was in 2000
