Mass Shooting and Gun Control Megathread

I doubt it would be too significant. There are rare instances where citizens do stop mass killers but they’re certainly less common.

I really wish gun control lobbyists would leave out suicides though. Suicide is a right… we’re fucking humans if we wana kill ourselves it ain’t nobody’s business to stop us. Including suicide in the picture is intentionally done to skew things and I don’t appreciate it.
Well gun deaths by police are in the statistics so lives saved by police would count too, but it’s impossible to determine what would have or how many people would have been killed before police killed a shooter, just something to think about

These "slippery slope" theories are all hypothetical. Kinda like the anti-gay marriage people who claimed it would lead to laws eventually being passed that would allow folks to marry animals.

Besides, it has been shown that Clinton's 1994 to 2004 assault rifle ban was effective to a certain degree. This graph shows from 2005-2017 and I think mass shootings have prolly increased exponentially since 2017.

Great news. Maybe all convicted felons should have their gun rights restored. That would solve the problem for sure, right?

The gun industry has just as much right as any other industry to lobby. Personally I think no for profit industries should be allowed to lobby, and this is a belief held by most.
You're always in here railing against the "establishment" as you call it but also support legal bribery of our politicians? o_O lol. wtf?

Considering the amount of Americans who have done jail time or even went to prison for possession and nothing else, I would say it should be at least discussed :memecat:

Theyre not honest about it though
they just lump it in with
"hate crimes" when its predominantly suicide caused by sexual or / and mentally disturbed upbringing

Sen. Ron Johnson says critical race theory, 'wokeness' responsible for school shootings

This is how ridiculous US politics has become. Just blame everything on the other side, doesn't matter what it is. And so many idiots are brainwashed and radical enough to believe it.

I wish there was a way to quantify the lives saved by guns….I wonder what that would look like agains lives lost (not including suicide)
In 2013, Obama's CDC estimated that 300,000-5 million lives were saved by defensive gun use annually.

The media will never report on this or encourage intelligent gun training for self-defense. Because they don't want people to be protected. They want people to be disarmed and at the mercy of violent criminals who will NEVER adhere to gun control restrictions.

Certainly true of both sides. Tbf the establishment wants to give children mind altering hormones/operations and further confuse confused children, which is more sensical to blame it on than an inanimate object.

Umm lol what?

Show me one mass murder committed by a trans person or even one committed in the name of sexual identity or rights.

Look I dont really agree with feeding kids hormone blockers either, but I have no idea why you try to make these connections.

That’s my whole thing as to why the blood is on the police hands, if your not willing to act in a crisis situation you are dead weight and a disadvantage period, every one of those cops should be fired immediately, find some ex military that have laid it down before, you either are or arnt willing to say fuck it and throw your life into the hat

did you read the piece to which you linked?

i'm wondering why you changed the numbers when you created the link? here are the actual numbers:

The study, which was farmed out by the CDC to the Institute of Medicine and National Research Council, also revealed that while there were "about 300,000 violent crimes involving firearms in 2008," the estimated number of defensive uses of guns ranges "from about 500,000 to more than 3 million per year."
(my emphasis)

but, hey, at least under obama the cdc was permitted to even research gun violence after the congress, under pressure from the nra, took steps to suppress then current gun violence-related research and block future research.

the same cdc also noted in study from 1993 in the nejm that the risk of homicide was 3 times greater and the risk of suicide nearly 5 times greater in homes with guns...

The media will never report on this

it was reported at the time but the report was released 9 years ago so it's hardly current.

I'd be very interested to know how many different rooms the shooter was in. And if the victims were in one room, two rooms, or several rooms.
All in one room. He locked himself in one room and shot everyone in it. It wasn't like other school shootings where they go from room to room.

I can understand why the police did what they did even though I don't agree with it.

However I want to know if their "swat team" was there or not, being such a small police force I believe they were (I think certain officers are both regular duty and swat). Their police headquarters was 3 minutes away. So what do they mean when they say they were waiting for additional resources to arrive for over an hour? That doesn't make sense...

The part that really gets me is them running in to get their own kids and then arresting other parents trying to do the same. Blue lives matter... Or ONLY blue lives matter... They say they were stopping parents due to it being "an active investigation" yet that doesn't apply to them? Not that much different than removing your child from a crime scene that they may be implicated in...

If I were one of those parents I would be furious and standing outside the sub station protesting to get all the cops on scene fired

So the only real issue here is what the door was like and why they weren't able to breach it without a key. And what the proper procedure is when a shooter is barricaded in a room where there are victims inside?

Sure

but I question more things, such as if there were windows they could have shot through, as it appears the school has plenty of windows:

Wait, so if the police didn't even call for the Border Patrol... who they fuck were they waiting on to show up?!?!

So, in the end, the very parents they were trying to keep out ended up having the balls to go in. The police even tried to keep this man out, even though he was border patrol, claiming it would interfere with their investigation. Sad...

Edit/correction: he is not the one who killed the suspect, he helped evacuate children while ON DUTY border patrol killed the suspect

the real hero:
