18 year olds with assault rifles and body armory killing people... it's almost as if our kids really are being indoctrinated

I don't think anyone in this thread is saying "ban guns." The OP mentioned military-style assault rifles. These types of guns, while making up a small percentage of the types of firearms available, unfortunately make up a larger proportion of the types of weapons used in mass shootings like that just happened in Buffalo. I think @Negentropic offered some other good viable solutions as well like universal background checks, longer waiting periods, licensing and renewals, etc.

And I know it's a favorite cliche for the 2A fanatics to say, "Guns don't kill people, people kill people."....

Looks like he used a pistol, or both a pistol and rifle, and was being chased by border patrol because he was wanted for murder and the chase ended at a school

I think its like 50 or 100 miles within the border that border control can police, so I assume since there was an alert to watch for his truck that it could have been border patrol that saw the tags first, and it may not have anything to do with the border, but I'm just guessingI'm curious what the connection with border control is.
If he had a BOLO for suspected murder what does border control have to do with it? Was he trying to flee to Mexico? That town looks to be about 2 hour drive from the border.
I really hope this connection to border control isn't used politically to shift focus onto some immigration or border issue (assuming he is a US citizen). I highly, highly doubt he is an illegal alien.
Yeah, 100 miles. That town is about 60mi from the border.I think its like 50 or 100 miles within the border that border control can police, so I assume since there was an alert to watch for his truck that it could have been border patrol that saw the tags first, and it may not have anything to do with the border, but I'm just guessing
I’m on board with a ton of this. Unless the public is severely up in arms and United then the Federal politicians are bought and paid for by the lobby. Lobby is pretty much just a fancy word for bribery. One reason why there is never a solution is because of the two party system a la political pendulum that swings in only two directions. Of course the right wing doesn't wanna do anything about the problem because the NRA is such a huge lobby and has a stranglehold on republican politicians. So when the left wing has majorities in the House, Senate, and even presidency, they can't hold power long enough to do anything about it. Then another election cycle comes along and we rinse and repeat but in the other direction. Look at what is happening now where the minority is literally calling the shots in Washington all because 2 democratic senators (Manchin and Sinema) keep voting with republicans and what a coincidence, they both are owned by corporations. Also, as long as we have the filibuster, which is a relic of Jim Crow, nothing major will ever change for the better.
Honestly the democratic party is too fragmented between the progressives, who actually want to make America a better place for all, and the moderates who are just as corporate-bought as the republicans. At least the republicans do a better job of sticking together. The only problem is that they stick together to uniformly screw over the American people in a way that the rich will always be in power and have all the economic advantages to keep the regular people down.
Annnnnnndd...... cue all the $40,000 wannabe millionaires who think they will actually become wealthy enough for a democratic tax hike to affect them....
His voice is just perfect for this type on music, this has been one of my favorite songs for most my adult lifeThanks manI felt, stagnant, and like it was time for some change. Layne has been an avatar of mine formerly and so I went and ran back to the best one I could.
having no effect...
So now it's the media's fault for reporting the news? How about they keep all the murders secret so nobody found out? Some countries actually do this. Everybody wants to point fingers and make it the media's fault or video games or rap music or whatever. It's almost like some of you have been *gasp* indoctrinated to believe that guns aren't the problem.![]()

That's not a valid reason to refrain from writing laws and/or enforcing them. Same with any law. "If the 12 year old kid is gonna drink a bottle of Jack anyways, they will find a way to do it. So let's not pass a law to restrict underage drinking." C'mon man, we gotta have some common sense and rattling off Faux News talking points ain't doing anything to help.If “The deranged knuckleheads“ want to shoot up something they will find a way to do it, regardless of laws.
