I just tested some pills and they turned up black and orange for the Marquis test. Also did the Mecke and Simon's and they showed green/black and blue respectively. I was thinking that these results mean that it was a speed/mdma combo but on the instructions it states that ,"Marquis reagent will also detect speed, but only in the absence of an ecstasy-like drug" So if the Mecke test showed a positive for MDxx then would this mean that the Marquis results are invalid? This is a dancesafe kit btw...

If a pill containing meth or amphetamine and MDMA is not homogenized properly - i.e. the constituents were not evenly distributed through the pill, then it is possible that two colors may be observed in the reaction mixture with Marquis.

Nah it's the same pill... I was just wondering if the Marquis could pick up any speed if there was also MDMA present since the instructions state that it could not.

^^ Not necessarily.

If a sample/pill has been sufficiently homogenized, and the level of meth/speed is low (e.g. 5-10 mg) & MDMA is present in a typical dose of say 100mg, it is sometimes impossible to pick the amphetamine unless the amphetamine reaction occurs first.

Often both will occur almost simultaneously. This can mean that the lighter orange is masked by the darker purple/black from the MDMA reaction.
