Marquis and Mandelin test Questions (very strange results)

I am very worried about some test results that I have recently found.

The tests were done on a white powder with crystals (sold as mdma)
Marquis test - no colour change
Mandelin test - Firstly to red then to a caramel ish shade.

My friends have taken this and they all say that it is very strong and has mdma effects.
They have all reported that it only takes a very small amount to feel the effects.
The taste is described as bitter sweet and smells very faintly of liquorice.

These results are very worrying to me as they were sold this under the impression that it was MDMA.
Could anyone help me in regards to what this might be?
Also, this is the first time I have posted anything on any forum so if I have made a mistake or posted it in the wrong place I'm very sorry.
Any help at all would be much appreciated, thanks.

not sure what you mean by caramellish but this could be PMA/PMMA. no reaction with marquis and red/dark brown with mandelin/eztest for ketamine suits the bill.
I attached the color scheme for this, did it look similar?

the effects of pma/pmma somewhat resemble the effects of mdma and the smell is also similar (derived from aniseed). by itslef this is not such a real problem, but do not mix this with anything else (mdma). that is when things can go really bad, really fast.

If 'mdma' doesn't react with marquis then it is NOT MDMA

Thank you for your reply. I can supply a picture of the mandelin test results.

I was very worried about it being PMA and that's why I did the test in the first place. I am not sure though, as I have heard that PMA takes a while to kick in and my friends all reported feeling effects after 15 minutes ish (when snorted).
Either way, it isn't mdma.
