so, as most of you might know of this medicine (dronabinol) which is man-made synthetic THC. well, I got a script of the 5mg pills today, no pharmacy around here has them in stock, so then when I asked one to order it for me, turns out for 60 of them, its xxx!!! I never thought I'd have a script to them, and when I finally do, its at an outlandish price I will never be able to afford!

this was from my oncologist.

keep in mind that they apparently don't have a generic, so if you do happen to get a script be prepared to pay xxx+ the price for mine which was the 5mg (middle strength) at twice a day was xxx

if you have good insurance theres a possibility it will be covered.

I, however, have state insurance for people who don't have money or whatever. in Arizona its called AHCCCS (pronounced "access). they don't cover it, they also don't cover oxycodone, which is one of the reasons why I switched to morphine (also, the morphine dosage I get is a tad bit stronger than the oxy dosage I was getting, and a bit more fun to shoot). it also covers my valium. so right now, my leukemia is getting treated free to me, along with my meds being free.
 
If your insurance doesn't cover it you aren't out that much. I knew a guy who (his name is Derrick too, LOL) got tens and he would trade me his whole script for maybe a point of meth. They are made with the assumption the patient has no tolerance for weed. Since your user name is TokingDerrick I assume you do. The only way I could get high off them was to poke a whole in two or three and squeeze the oil into what was basically a straight shooter crack pipe and smoke it that way. Tastes bad that way BTW. Marinol seems in concept like it would be something cool as fuck but it doesn't really live up to the hype.
 
yes, I have heard that you don't really get high from these things but thats not really what I'm looking for currently.

chemotherapy has made it to where I throw up probably 15-20 times a day, really bad nausea and NO appetite. for the past week I've seriously had probably 5 bites of food a day. its gotten so bad the past week that my cheeks are starting to sink in. they did give me a shot of some anti-nausea medicine today with my chemo meds that seemed to work pretty well (it didn't give me an appetite though) but I haven't puked today since that shot, so when I got home I decided to have fun with my morphine since I can do doses I'm used to and nod without puking everywhere.

anyone know of any prescription drugs that will make me hungry?
 
This might be a stupid question, but can't you smoke weed for the nausea/appetite problem?

(And those marinol prices are insane 8o )
 
^^ yes smoking weed will help for the eating problem... thats why the OP was prescribed a drug containing THC i presume (also for its anti-nausea effects)...

but at that price, you're better off getting some weed, and if you don't smoke, you can allways make butter out of it and get the same beneficial effects...

Lol yes I know weed helps with that, I ment to ask why he couldn't just smoke weed instead of going for prescription medication

edit: there's 1 med I know of that could increase your appetite: Sibelium, it's a migraine medication, but I don't recommend it though
 
Weed is the obvious answer, but as for prescription drugs neurontin (and I assume lyrica) gives the munchies. When I take them while smoking jwh (probation) I empty the fucking fridge.
 
You can just squeeze out the oil on some bud to make it more potent.

It can make swag into some really nice shit. I only had the 2 mg pills!
I can only imagine if I had the 10 mg. :( I would get super blazed.
 
Ugh, I miss smoking weed. Been almost two years.
I remember one time I had a horrible stomach flu and smoked some bud and felt so much better. No more vomiting, etc and actually ate.
 
My grandfather had a script of 30 marinol 10mg pills about 5 years ago after he had a stroke and 2 major surgeurys, and he was scripted the marinol 10mg for anti-nausea purposes so as not to throw up and risk damging the sutures and what not, but when he got home from the hospital after a month and a half of taking marinol 10mg in there he only took about 3 or 4 pills out of his script and quit taking them.Anyway i asked him if I could have some to try(he is cool for a 70+ year old guy). and he said sure ,so i took about 5 of the 10mg marinols home and ate them all and after about 2 or 3 hours i was not high,but more zoned out couch lock kinda feeling and it lasted all day and i slept for like 12 hours that night and woke up feeling stoned still, so in higher dosages marinol is kinda fun,like eating hash brownies or something only longer lasting...thats my experience with marinol anyway, much quicker to just smoke some good buds tho,but these were free and I wanted to try them..not quite as good as the hype but good enough if you have enough to try,especailly free...
 
yes, I can smoke weed. I'm just having problems procurring some lately so I thought I'd ask the doctor for some marinol. I just didn't know it was gonna cost that much. (think half pound of weed).
 
I'm not a fan of marinol. I have tried it twice and it's just not impressive. I guess there is something to be said for the CBN and CBD as well as THC in quality herb.
 
If money is tight, and I would imagine it is with leukemia and all, you might look into the jwh-stuff. It's dirt cheap and some of them are reported to be excellent for nausea and even pain.
