Marijuana possible gift to higher consciousness?

“Through balance, with time and interest, marijuana can enliven the Center of Knowing.” In the Theory of Vibration, this is the sixth level of development known as the “Knowledge Center.” What we refer to as the sixth sense, or intuition, derives from this esoteric symbol, which very often is depicted as a third eye, located at the midbrow. (p. 71)

After first injesting marijuana i was rather amazed and amused at the result, as going into it i fully thought of marijuana as an intoxicant, and was extremely surprised to find that it was infact the opposite.
As some of you may know from my other threads mary jay does effect me quite chronically, however i feel this is in a good way.

Maryjayne makes my appreciation of life, scenery, sound, pretty much everything, sky rocket.

So i propose the question - Is marijuana a performance enhancer?

I know for sure that it definately does cause impairment to the inhalers short term memory, but after reading on the following website and thus relating the insight's of this ladys views on mary jay i have one came to the conclusion that it does enhance my brain and body in many ways.
Here is the link to the website -

http://www.benefitsofmarijuana.com/benefits.php

Just to let you know i have inhaled for roughly 6months now, with the last month being everyday, occasionaly twice a day, and everytime my vision and views on life are becoming clearer and clearer.
The purpose of everything and the reasoning behind why everything happens is so clear to me now it even scares me.

I have started reading and watching youtube videos by Bob Marley, and one of the main things he feels is that herb is the best thing on this planet, that it is the answer.
He refers to the modern world as " Babylon " and states that those, i assume that are not rastafarians or pot smokers, are in a confused world where they are constantly confusing themselves, and have stupid beliefs etc.
Here is a few quotes from the man himself,

" I'm not educated; I'd be a damn fool if I was (educated)! "

thus adding to the point that he believes the modern world is confused, and teach confusion in the education system.

"The more people smoke herb, the more Babylon fall."

Talking once again on the confused world and how the herb brings you back to reality.

This being said was Bob trying to get through to people who listen to his music that the herb brings a higher state of consciousness?
Maybe so, this theory is backed up extremely well by another quote by the man himself, which is -
“Herb is the healing of a nation, alcohol is the destruction.”

Now alot will mimic me on this thread, as they did in the last one before, but i do not mind as i believe the herb does lift me up to a higher level of consciousness, as it did so to Bob Marley, which i think is rather ironic, as i had wrote down alot of theorys in my first few months under the influence, then when i read about Bob it seems alot of our theorys, and the lady who's link to her website above seem to match, another great quote by the man himself is -

"The power of philosophy floats through my head, light like a feather, heavy as lead. "

Bob talking on his feelings after inhaling.

Here is another extract from the website link posted up the page,

"People who try marijuana and reject it do so usually because they feel uncomfortable and confused in altered, fuller consciousness."

This to me seems to explain the hypothesis that marijuana is a gateway drug, as people go into it wanting to get crazy and intoxicated like they do on alcohol, but instead they find fuller consciousness, and end up having to go to harder drugs.
That it why it is my belief marijuana should be kept from the grips of already angry and nasty people, as it leads, and only leads, those types of people onto harder drugs.
As i for one know from first hand experience of people who do MJ thinking they are cool and tough, and a rebel for doing so, and that have all ended up moving to harder drugs because they have all got annoyed that they couldnt "trip out".
It is now to my belief that MJ doesnt make you "trip out", it instead makes you meditate through complete balance of your body, as described by many, in particular - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2HMlbtksV1o

Their are many views on MJ on the net, which to believe some would say?

Some even say that MJ enhances blood flow to the brain.

I personally believe it isolates blood flow in the brain, to certain areas, taking blood away from the short term memory part, and isolating it in more acute areas, which lead to greater perception of sound and sights.
But i have absolutely no knowlodge on this whatsoever, although it is said it makes you use the other side of your brain that is usually dormant, which has to be in some way a good thing.

Anyway, what is your theory on Mary Jay being a performance enhancer?

Anyway, what is your theory on Mary Jay being a performance enhancer?

I think that's a little simplistic. I mean MJ can make people anxious, paranoid and feel very out of place.

On very simple level, I would say MJ makes you a lot more in touch with your inner self. When you smoke regularly external pressures and issues become of a lesser importance and you're more content with what you have. But on the other hand, such behavior means that you will achieve less success in your life and miss out on opportunities that you would have liked to have pursued. But then again, aren't most of these so called "opportunities" forced upon by the rest of society? :\

I think the most healthy approach towards pot is to treat it as a cool drug that makes a lot of things so much more fun (on some many different levels). Don't idealize it and don't treat it like you would treat heroin.

Just my 2c. :)

Not to say that smoking pot doesn't still enhance my life today, but you feel this way because you are new to smoking.. I was also shocked and amazed at how much I loved marijuana my first few months smoking, but give it a few years and the effects become beneficial in a very different way.

Your still in the honeymoon stage with pot, enjoy it while it still lasts ;)

yeah, those feelings will end. it makes you think differently, not 'fuller.'

it sounds like you're trying to turn weed into your religion. maybe it'll work out good for you. I could never keep my faith in anything.

So i propose the question - Is marijuana a performance enhancer?

yea dude. for sure. i smoke before i play basketball and i'm way better. i think...

notice... how easily you forget things when high? can't remember where you put shit five seconds ago, can't form difficult sentences with ease because the words aren't coming to access easily, and time itself seems distorted.

this is because weed fucks with your temporal lobe, slowing the neural processes and giving precedence to sensory information. there's nothing magical about it, you're just high on the finest drugs to ever bless the earth.

the brain is an ever-evolving device, but it is nevertheless a hopelessly closed system. all it knows of the world is what is decoded from your sensory input, which changes when on drugs and throws all your other perceptions into question. given its incredible capacity to compensate for what's lacking and sense things that aren't (i.e. phantom limbs), it's perfectly normal to think up crazy esoteric bullshit (eg. religion) and even believe that it's real.

some people believe that we're not equipped with the sensory equipment needed to truly sense the world as they believe it really may exist, but given how it's literally impossible for the physical world to trick all our senses simultaneously i think it's perfectly fair to say there is no higher consciousness.

I think that low dose marijuana is a performance enhancer for "single person sports" like running, skateboarding, swimming, etc. simply because it gives the user a whole new level of perception about what they are doing. The user can feel their reactions, mistakes, and self at a higher degree and can therefore compensate/learn better.
Dailytrippa, I like your threads, I still check the "Crazy weed trip, no else comes close?" thread. In fact I have it bookmarked :) you remind me of my friend who experienced the same kind of experienced. He however had been part of a meditation center who followed the awakened Sri Chinmoy. You should try meditating if you aren't already, it can do wonders.
What I'm about to say now might get some flack from some members here, but stop trying to relate this to science if you want to keep up this experience. To those who say that just because I dont believe in science doesn't mean I should ignore it; I'm actually working to become chemist/physics major at WWU. But I believe that you will end up finding that science cannot do your experience justice. Try focusing on more Eastern philosophy such as the Tao te Ching, or Asagna's Compendium of Higher Knowledge or Vasubhandu's Treasury of Higher Knowledge.

Right now I'm on a vacation in Mexico typing this on my iPod touch because my computer broke and the Internet is exspensive, has horrible range and my battery keeps telling me I have less than20% remaining. I'll try to get back to this thread soon to finish what I started, but it could be a day or two.

It certainly makes you feel like you're thinking deeper and clearer.

Does it *actually* make you think deeper and clearer?

That's another matter entirely.

Yeah another 6 months. But All power to you if you can stretch it out longer.
I felt that way on mushrooms as well the first time I took them.
I felt I was experiencing Life the way it was meant to be looked at.
Could you imagine being on mushrooms 24/7... WOW yeah totally not for everyday viewing.

Does it unveil an untouched realm of higher consciousness or just let us
explore the mountains and valleys of our own consciousness.

Have a look at this site, it is all about alpha brain waves, marijuana is a proven way to increase alpha brain waves, thus why some people think of it as medicine, i myself am a strong believer it is a very good overall medicine, but only for certain people.

Alpha state brainwaves are slower then beta (our active state). It is a state of "aware relaxation" and it brings numerous advantages:

•Improves your mental processes – concentration, clarity of thinking,
decision making, memory
•Calms your body and mind while it maintains alertness
•Stimulates imagination, intuition and higher awareness
•Allows you to sleep better, fall asleep easily, stay asleep through the night
•Lowers levels of cortisol – keeps you healthier by boosting your immune system
•Alpha waves increases levels of DHEA and Melatonin - slows aging process and improves sleep
•Alpha brainwaves increases learning ability, improves memory

“We now believe 80 percent of illness is stress-related, that whatever your genetic weak link, stress will trigger it,” notes Richard Brown, M.D., associate professor of clinical psychiatry at Columbia University. He adds, “Going to a spa is wonderful, but until you teach yourself ways to achieve peace of mind from the inside, you’ll remain vulnerable to stress.”

This is why MJ is good for me , have not been sick in 2 months now, usually sick every week or 2nd week. Now the only sickness id get is a small runny nose, probably due to sharing cones etc.

The_Lawlz thank you very much for your comment, its good to see some people actually taking me seriously hah.
Ive been meditating a little bit and it has been amazing!
Takes about 20seconds if im in complete peace ie no one else is in the house, im warm, Bob Marley Positive Vibration flowing out of my sound system,
Peace, Jah love, may Babylon one day appreciate, and free themselves of hate. :)

And no, i have found i can achieve this state of literally no MJ, well ya no, one bud, which is about 1american dollars worth, with complete relaxation. I also taught my friend to do the same thing, although his feelings are not as strong.
Its all about relaxation and increasing your alpha brain waves which get you into a state of deeper and clearer thinking and meditation.
One of the many wonders of the human body.
This will last forever, i look forward to updating you in six months time :) :P

MJ definately opens up your mind - no problem identifying that as I know from personal experience and lifelong experience. You don't love music until getting stoned and listening to music - music will never be the same again. I found my love for psycedelic music instantly after trying MJ so it definately sparked my artistic side.

In the longer run however it seems that heavy use is not good at all as it removes dreaming, makes you forget. But I am most likely impaired by alot of people taking anxiety pills and smoking weed - therefore putting it in the wrong category. Weed definately has great properties in opening up the mind. I also have had strange psycedelic trips while on MJ alone in my youth, so it's definately a psycedelic.

Nowadays I tend to look at MJ as a tool to use after LSD or other psycedelic drugs as an enhancer, it will boost the experience. However I am not really sure if it boosts the enhancement because it's the MJ or if it's sedating you therefore making the original drug (LSD or other) becomming more effective again.

Im guessing what I am saying is that MJ my open up your mind - but I do not think it's a drug which will do you good in the long run. I would call it a mind opener - from there on you should move on to psycedelics like mushrooms, LSD and the new RC's departement of 4- and 5- stuff.
