Okay, so I am sure that most of us are aware about the schizophrenic episode that is playing out concerning marijuana in the US Capital. Obama says one thing, then raids more dispensaries, Obama says another thing, and the DEA shakes their finger at him. It should be obvious by now, Obama is Pro-marijuana (for the most part). However, he cannot directly say so for fear of political backlash, yet he is allowing (for now) the experiment in Washington and Colorado to continue. On top of this, the Feds have given banks a road map to get into the green rush. However, most are hesitating at the policy (wisely IMO).

But what about the south? How schizophrenic have the policies in Tenn., Ga.,Ala., etc. been? Well, don't be looking for recreational marijuana anytime soon but it seems medical marijuana has a good chance of being allowed in Tennessee. Currently, about 75% of Tenn. residents support marijuana. As for Georgia and Alabama, they are seeking to bring medical marijuana to their states but on a very limited scale. Georgia is the one that gets me the most with their proposed medical marijuana bill.

Believe it or not, Georgia was actually one of the first states to ever establish a medical marijuana policy. So why don't you hear Georgia residents bragging about their cannabis cards? This is because the law was enacted only on paper. The medical boards and other requirements that were part of the law were never created, hence no medical marijuana. However, Georgia is at it again but on a very limited scope.

This time with a policy that has more holes than a porcupine has quills. Georgia is only wanting to legalize the low THC, high CBD oil found in the strain known as "Charolettes Web". While this is great for children experiencing epilepsy, what does Georgia really have in mind for this proposed legislation? That is a very real question that needs to be asked when evaluating the Marijuana Media Schizophrenia in the South.

Does the policy GA is attempting to implement make much sense to anyone else (besides the obvious benefit of helping children)? What are your thoughts on marijuana reaching the south medically and eventually legally?

What they have in mind is that they are uninformed, pure and simple. The child epilepsy cases are just too good to ignore, so they take their limited understanding of the issue (along with help from some misinformed interest groups) and push legislation that won't help anyone.

CBD is effective for some people, but MOST people need some THC. Even some of the kids receiving the "Charlotte's Web" strain (which is just the Colorado Springs phenotype of an older European Cannatonic Rx#xx variety) are getting supplements of THC (plus CW has THC in it, somewhere around 20:1 CBD:THC). ^^to explain that, Charlotte's Web, AC/DC, and others are just bred from the original stock of like 30 different numbered Cannatonic varieties which were brought over from (I believe) Spain.

It's somewhere to start though. Hopefully these CBD-only bills will fail (as they've been recognized as ineffective and misleading by national groups), and will be replaced by more comprehensive medical legislation. For some states, like Georgia, these bills are being pushed as a trojan horse to preclude any future bills which would protect patient's use of high-THC cannabis as well as home grows.

TBPH I don't see recreational marijuana in the southern U.S. for at least 20 years. We're talking about medicinal marijuana in the south on an EXTREMELY limited scale, only to people who will likely have to pass several levels of clearance by medical professionals/personnel before they can obtain the right to legally smoke MJ for medical purposes. That being said, though, I do think the South will change its mind on MJ in either this generation (born in 80's/early 90's) or at least with the next one maturing currently.

however, the south almost certainly IMO won't be legalizing until practically the rest of the country has legalized MJ

Now that Colorado has legalized the weed, I have some serious things to worry about.. How am I going to keep the cats from knocking down the tiny Blue Mystic seedlings I started before I move them downstairs and under the 1000 W HPS where they will thrive? This is a serious issue! - Morphine- Do You feel like Swimming? Another question that needs answering!

I thought this would have something to do with schizophrenia but now see it was being used as a derogatory term.
