I know they were behind getting the question on the ballot.
But the same or similar question was on at least one previous ballot and it did not pass.
How did they 'push the bill through' exactly? And you are telling me that it 'passed' because it was on the ballot? Didn't it take a majority vote for it to pass? How exactly did MPP develop that majority vote?
I think it is much more easily explained. Like I said, tons more young people voted this year than in years past, and as we all know, mj legalization/drcrim is much, much more popular with young people than old people.
I didn't claim Obama was behind this in any way. I'm simply saying that he got young people interested in voting. And since they were all out there voting this year, when it has been widely known that young people vote much less often than older people in general in years past..... and they are staring a mj decrim question in the face, well what are they going to do? This is why it passed.
I've been loosely following MJ decrim for 20 years (actually more). Young people passed this in Massachusetts. The orgainzation you mentioned got it on the ballot, and Soros put some cash behind it, but it was the droves of young voters that got it passed. No one from MPP called my house to encourage me to vote for this bill.
