marijuana and hair loss

well..appreciate yur input..
all im saying is that its seems weird..dosent seem like the usual receding hairline thats all..
and yur right, i have tought about the stress being a factor..
jsut that at the end of last year i would smoke alot and stress level seem about the same..except that i was smoking plants that i would grow organicly..and now im smoking some bomb ass weed..
get what im saying..
i just tough that some other stoner outthere could figure out something i might be missing..

oh and wig would go with me..i would just shave it all of..
reathe rbe bald and smoking than having some hair..thats just me..
keep smoking brothershttp://i.bluelight.ru/pi/26.gif

I've grown my hair out before and the more hair you have the more you shed.

I'm assuming that you have long "stoner" hair and you're also smoking Cannabis, which can sometimes cause a little paranoia as you tend to notice things you wouldn't otherwise.

When I had really long hair, I noticed the same thing too. It appeared like I was shedding way too much hair and I would bug out. Ask women though, they shed all the time. It's pretty normal.

If it has to do with nutrition, take a multi-vitamin and maybe supplement. My cousin who's a hair stylist recommended me this product when I had my hair long: Kerastase

Made my hair thicker, and fuller. Just felt and looked healthier overall. Could see a difference in a few weeks. Also, choose a better shampoo and conditioner. That's pretty important too.

Don't forget B-Vitamins are very important for healthy hair.

i have had a very similar experience despite what other people ay have said on this thread.

i am 18 and have been smokein since i was 13ish and had no problems until i became 16. i began to smke every day from about the age of 16 and realized that my hair was falling out and starting to thin at the front and crown of my head. obviously i was confused because i was 16 and loosing hair, i thought to my self THIS IS NOT NORMAL :(. as both my grandads have a full head of hair and my dad has most of his hair at nearly 50!

This continued until i went on holiday to visit my auntie for a couple of weeks. on about the second or third day my hair began to feel stronger and i noticed it was not falling out. however, when i got home i got back into my routine and began to smke every day again.

This is when i noticed very short and light hairs appearing on my pillow etc (these were the hairs i had grown back).

I did alot of research into this and found people were having similar experiences with weed and hairloss! I therefore came to the conclusion that unfortunately weed was the problem and it was causing my hair to fall out!!! 8o...however i found it very hard to stop smoking as im sure you can understand.

I am now at the point were i have cut down drastically on my smoking and my hair is becoming stronger and thicker. i am still trying to cut it out for a while to let it grow back totally as there is still small patches were you can see the scalp.

So if you are bothered by baldness (like me!!!) you have to stop or at least cut down alot!!!!! i hope my experience can help you and give you motivation to stop because if not you could be called slap head for the rest of your life and im sure you dnt want that!!!!

Pot's got nothing to do with it. Guys (and girls) are gonna lose their hair or not, it's mostly genetics.

no one is denying that, but in SOME people it quickens the process up. and obviously it doesn't effect every one who has smked weed or ther wud be hell of a lot more bald people in the world!!!!! all i am saying is that it may speed the process up if you are destine to go bald!!! so if u hav not had that experience u r unlikely 2 understand!

for me i've been damaging, dying, and ironing my hair for 4 year. i dye it at least once a month. naturally i have fast growing, thick curly hair. all the processing quickly got rid of that. my hair would at the most grow a 1/2 inch in 2 months. but what ive noticed that when i started smoking everyday my hair started growing fast. i went platinum blonde about 3 weeks ago and i already have a good 3/4 inch of dark thick roots. my hair hasn't even grown thick since 05.
everyones different. :D

Hair loss is NOT simply genetic. My father started going bald a few years ago. My mother intervened by rubbing castor oil into his scalp weekly. After several months of this, fine, new hair was growing back where the bald spots had been. The hair is now thicker and longer and no longer would someone look at my father and say, "Going bald!"

And hell, regardless of whether genetics cause hair loss, that doesn't mean that actions and evironment can't affect or even reverse it!

yeah man..i get what yur saying..i mean its genetics 100% if yur gonna go bald..but if you smoke alot(everyday for me) yull probably loose it faster..everyone is different afcourse..
i wish i was the typical hippie with a full set of hair..but im not..my temples are horrible..and i KNOW for a FACT it was the weed..i've cut down alot..but i think i will give it more time..
i wish that by now someone would actually fixed hair loss problem so i wouldnt have to smoke..oh well i guess hopefully in 10 years there will be something available..i mean c'mon we can clone animals and humans and we can stop hair loss..stupid pharmaceudical companies jsut want to get rich of rogaine and shit..

yeah fairly well established propaganda. thought up by the same researchers that suggest it causes erectile dysfunction, male infertility and genetic disorders i bet.

Oh, and i have all my hair. I think your loss would have more to do with genetic reasons than mj.

Wow, I stand corrected. Did some googling and I guess what used to be established is no longer. I say this because when we were trying to have a baby back in the 80's and it wasn't happening the doc recommended cutting back or eliminating smoking pot.

Damn I hate putting out bum dope. Anyway, I still say it affects hair ever so mildly. No more so than the seasons of the year do. Ah, it's still all anecdotal.

Hey man

I was researching on google the same problem you had

I have been smoking pretty much every day for the past few years and my hairline is receding and I am balding

I also have a hormonal imbalance I think is caused by the marijuana

I really need to stop smoking too. so far ive been 2 days and going strong

Did your hair grow back after you stopped smoking? How is your hair now? Did it recover after you stopped smoking?

I've heard about pot increasing estrogen levels, but never about it decreasing testosterone levels.

Taking a hit of Pot feels like someone has burned the inside of your lungs, so that indicates to most that Marijuana smoke is worse than tobacco smoke. There fore the casualties are worse. Its only logical the only ones that do not agree with this are the ones that smoke dope. They are in denial, as most addicts are.

i take issue with this.

i wish i was the typical hippie with a full set of hair..but im not..my temples are horrible..and i KNOW for a FACT it was the weed..

and this.

your logic is all wrong, OP.

well as it turns out..
i've been to a dermatologist, and she told me that sometimes due to smoking, i guess hair dosent get enough oxygen, nutrients etc. and well hair wont grow in environments that are not sustanable to grow.

You know we have these things called vaporizers now...

And they've made it so you don't have to inhale off the top of a small chimney anymore to get high...

So perhaps start vaping....

(And was the dermatologist specifically talking about cannabis smoke? Because there's a WORLD of difference between the effects from inhaling tobacco smoke and the effects from inhaling cannabis smoke-- they are barely comparable IMO, tobacco is vasoconstrictive poison and cannabis is a friendly herb.)

But it shouldn't matter anyways, because you can have your cake and eat it too, you don't have to inhale smoke to get high, you can vape. :)

Also, I think you guys are going bald because you're genetically predisposed to baldness and your levels of dihydrotestosterone are increasing; since DHT is highly androgenic, much moreso than testosterone, its causing you to bald.

Try taking a medication like dutasteride which stops the conversion of testosterone to DHT.

Its pretty obvious that you are projecting your displeasure of going bald onto an innocuous flower. Cannabis didn't make you go bald, excessive amounts of potent androgenic hormones produced by your body did.

You don't know anything for a fact, bro. There's absolutely no way that you can determine the causality of your baldness utilizing any type of systematic analysis. What you're doing is guessing, and believing your own bullshit.
