March Madness is among us

what a great handful of conference tourney games!

first, Ohio State. Rusty Cage is very very right when he says their biggest weakness is their bench, they only have really one contributing bench player. however, you have like how they handled the Big Ten conference tourney (which along with the Big East and Big 12 are the true college b-ball powerhouses this year). Evan "the Villain" Turner pulled up a sweet buzzer beater to beat Michigan, and OSU bested an always tough Illinois team in double OT.

OSU's biggest weakness is their bench - but none of the starters seem to show any wear and tear from the large amount of minutes they play.

Kentucky won against a pretty down SEC tournament, but Kentucky still might be the best team in the nation. is John Wall their best player? I don't know, but they do have more than him. Cousins is going to be a GREAT NBA player.

I think that Kansas is the most scary Number One seed. but what's new?

who do you all think will be the darkhorse contenders this year?

I would love to run a Bracket here, but I am leaving to hit the road for my band for a couple weeks, so I will not be able to run it.

Now that the brackets are out...

We can really discuss this... Madness...

And the first order of business is Kansas. In my most humble of opinions, to be the no. 1 overall seed they got FUCKED. I mean c'mon, they are going to have to play unlv, then Mich. St. or Maryland, then Tenn., G'Town, or OSU. Just to make it to the final four. At least 3 of those teams are final four potential in any other bracket themselves.

I still have Kansas coming out of the Midwest though.

Then in the west, Syracuse really got an easy ride. None of these teams other than Kansas St. should even pose much of a threat.

Which is why I'm predicting Syracuse in the final four.

Then in the East, UK really got a middle of the run bracket, not an easy run to the final four, but not impossible either. I picked them to come out of the east because really West Virginia is the biggest beast they'll have to deal with. However, Second game vs. Texas... earlier in the year I thought Texas would win it all... if they return to that former glory here in the tourney then that prediction could still hold true.

So I took UK out of the East.

And at last there is Duke in the South as the last no. 1 seed. Their run to the final four I believe will be stopped by Scottie Reynolds and crew at Villanova. However Baylor could also crawl out of this very weak bracket.

But I being the believer in Wildcats, picked Villanova.

And that's all the wisdom I'm going to share.

Also it's a shame you're going to be gone during the days of basketballmas. It would have been nice to have someone to argue with over the mundane games like BYU vs. Florida, or Clemson vs. Missouri. But we'll see if we can get a bracket set up.

EVERYONE who ain't a Buckeye hates OSU football.

I just heard about the Gauchos. what exactly is a Gaucho?

Hey Axle I got a Yahoo Group up if you want in on that. You can at least put togather a bracket or two even if you can't be around to gloat and talk shit.

Or you can make an official one, and take care of everything when you get back.

Basically its the South American (Argentinean/Brazilian) equivalent of a cowboy.

Which makes me want to post this picture, la casa de los Gauchos:

Considering one square inch of our campus is more beautiful than your entire state, we'll gladly make a quick exit from the tourney, get out of the midwest or whatever shitty region we're in, and get back to the beach.

Hey look, I'm saying "we" and speaking for a team that I'm not on... feels good, I see why you guys do it. :)

Go Santa Barbara - give 'em hell! :p

Beauty is all a matter of opinion. If you like a lot of water, then yeah your campus is ok. I think it's ugly.

I'd say OSU got screwed. I thought the worst #2 seed was supposed to play in the same bracket as the top #1 seed. OSU clearly is not the worst #2 seed. It's quite obvious that the NCAA committee wants to see Duke and Syracuse go deep. Their brackets are nothing short of comical.

Oh well, the way the Buckeyes are playing right now, I think they can beat anyone. Obviously their depth is a non factor, so we'll see what happens.

^ very good point. not many of the top seeds have both won their conference and their conference tourney.

I just feel bad for Kansas. in my opinion, they are the best team in college basketball right now. they got screwed too! they should have the easiest route to a Final Four appearance, but they have to contend against Ohio State, ACC Champ Maryland (who I think is a fraud btw), always-tough Michigan State, Tennessee, and Oklahoma State. Tenn and OK State have both beaten Kansas this year.

I said God damn! the winner of the Midwest tourney should win the whole thing.

re: nice campus. yeah, that campus looks nice. it looks like a place I would go with my bros Chadwick and Skeeter to have a hella spring break (we would be hooked up because Skeeter's dad owns a dealership). that campus looks like a great place to puke after my third O-bomb.

I prefer my cities grimey, that's why I like the Mid-west. Clevelend, Detroit, Chicago, Columbus, et all. you know what the Mid-west is? young and restless.

LOL Yeah Kansas got screwed. And you're right Axl Duke and Syracuse both got the easiest brackets. But I'm wondering if Duke can make it past a U of L team. U of L has the talent to make it to the elite 8, maybe even further. I wouldn't bet on it, cause their about as consistent as well.. I dunno I can't think of anything so inconsistent that it's so ridiculous it'd cause you to chortle.

And I want another Title for UK this year too. I see a half-way easy path to the final game, but the youth there really troubles me.

I think this year they got seeding, and the S curve backwards and really just fucked shit up. Duke's bracket looks like the no.1 overall seed.

Man im really excited

the school i go to made it into the tourny. (UNT)

we gotta play Kan St. 1st n prob wont get past em but its nice to see em out there anyways. im so used to not being able to route for my school on the national stage that this just seems foreign/awesome

anyways im thinking Kansas or Kentucky to take it all, who knows though

I just filled mine out, although I might change before noon Thursday. For the bluelight one I picked with mostly my brain, not so much my heart. But my emotions might make me change it again before thursday! It pains me to pick against the Buckeyes!
