Marc Emery in jail awaiting extradition to U.S.

Wow so much hate. This guy has done a hell of alot for weed. How can you say a bad thing about a person who is DOING something about prohibition, when all you fuckers do is sit back and hotbox your bedrooms.

i was in BC when he first got arrested and it was a huge deal at the time, they had a giant rally in vancouver where they were tossing out handfuls of joints, good times.

this shit is fucked, america has such bigger problems to deal with than some pot seed dealer, cmon
 
Facedagain nailed it. You might think he's a tool but he's done more and sacrificed more (but on there other Hand made a shitload of money probably) for anti prohibition efforts than anyone here. Sucks i was hoping Canada tells us to go fuck ourselves and they'll take care of it(slap on the wrist)

Real shocked actually. Canada and their bagged milk has let me down today.

it really annoys me when people make this guy out to be a martyr. you know what, he CAPITALIZED off the fact that selling mary jane seeds is (or was?) legal in Canada. he went into that business for the express purpose of selling seeds and making MONEY off of it, and built his whole reputation around commercializing marijuana which is definitely not helpful to the antiprohibitionist movement.

in fact, he's downright harmful to the antiprohibitionist movement. i can't tell you how pissed off i was when he started touring the country and was featured smoking weed with kids too young to be smoking cigarettes. he wasn't organizing those rallys for the cause, he was organizing it to make himself a celebrity and a bunch of dimwits bought into it.

I'm sure that when alot of Canadians think of marijuana they automatically think of one man- Marc Emery- and that hurts the movement

people like him don't give a shit if pot stays illegal. If prohibition ended, Marc Emery would fall into relative obscurity overnight. His celebrity status would be toast!

You are retarded to think that winning this war involves making the general public think that drug use is acceptable because its only dont by mature adults.

Winning this war is all about making the law enforcement policys look foolish, a waste of money, and show how little of an effect policy on reducing access and reducing demand.
And this is EXACTLY what Marc Emery has done.

And let me ask you this; how many celebritys have beaten charges before? Of cause this was all about being a matry. Am i missing something????

Exactly. These folks are steady talking down, but what have all of you done for the cause? Emery may have his flaws, but he stood up for what he believed in (cannabis, and beyond that general civil liberties) and he has a long track record of doing this. My best wishes to him, and props on having the nuts to do SOMETHING and stick to his principles during this federal witch hunt.

For the record, Marc Emery was very much involved in Canadian ibogaine projects designed to get people off drugs, and used a lot of his cannabis seed profits to fund them. A pretty noble cause, in my eyes...
 
This thread reminds me of the month when the 3rd tony hawk game came out.

All the "cool" kids at school were way too cool to like tony hawk anymore, he was too old, and too involved, and too good at what he does, good at marketing, good at making money, and good at getting a whole nation involved.

I realized tony hawk has done a lot for skateboarding, I realized he is the best, and probably a good spokesperson for the entire culture.

I think you people hate Marc Emery because he is so popular and overly loved by the pot community, don't pretend he hasn't done anything, he has done more for pot than anyone on this site could do in their entire life.

Do you people hate Marc because it is cool to like Marc and you thrive to be different?

People who speak up about marijuana laws being "put down" by jackasses calling them an "emery" is a damn shame... it's like public school all over again, keep your views and ideas to yourself... just follow the grain.

um, no. like i said, the man's a jackass. he wasn't born the prince of pot, he used to run a bookstore in ontario. i'm sure he's polished his attitude since becoming such a big public figure, but if you met him before that time then you would have realized he's a conceited dick. but none of you showering him with praise have actually MET him, have you?

done more for the movement than i ever will? give me a fucking break. like i said, he did it all for the fame. as far as i'm concerned, time in jail is what he deserves for his shameless selfpromotion. do you know his business was shunned by the overgrow community? it's really a shame that site was shut down, because there were a lot of legitimate medicinal users living in Vancouver on that site who had a LOT of negative shit to say about their experiences with mr. emery.

but you go believe what you will. history is written by the victor, like they say, and for all the people who think emery's word is gospel he will always be the victor, or the martyr, or the hero for the cause that he's actually done nothing for.

let me just ask you one thing... have you ever seen him faithfully spearhead any legalization or decriminalization initiative? ... or just smoking bongs and talking shit on pot tv

maybe not martyr but hes a god damn hero. damn near all of the money he made selling seeds went to many diff charitys and protests and such-like.

and of course they would put him with a kid, theyre trying to make him out to some horrible old man that rakes in millions of dollars, when hes really just an old guy that wants to legalize something that he believes in. dont listen to the horse shit the govt keeps crying about

Well Marc Emery HAS done a lot for the movement, he has made himself famous, and put pressure on two governments to have him released from jail... Don't think of Marc Emery as the person, if he went out of the spotlight tomorrow, I wouldn't miss him, but to be honest, over the last week I have heard talk of marijuana legalization, the S-10 bill, and marcs extradtion mentioned on MANY news channels.

It isn't often when you can get news channels to stay completely neutral and just give out info about marijuana, the touchiness and the anger involved in marc's extradition has kept CTV and other news channels from cracking jokes or forming their own bullshit opinions on TV, they dont want 100 stoned protestors storming into their building.

The media is realizing that this is pretty serious to all the people that care, and we are willing to stand up and do something about it.... this is because of marc, marc (as cliche as it is) has torn down some fuckin walls in canada.

He may be self promoting, he may not be a 100% perfect person (infact I heard he sometimes hits on 16-17 year old girls.... but fuck it, if I were famous and 40... I would probably do the same) The fact of the matter is, the man is trying, he has put so much money and time towards it.

Spearhead legalization? You think one normal man with no political power whatsoever can spearhead a movement that would change laws throughout the entire WORLD? No one person can spearhead any fucking pro-drug movement. What he was doing was making marijuana a more normal, everyday thing. How would you suppose he could spearhead the legalization movement? Please, tell me what he could have and should have done. Why don't you do the same thing as him? You make it out to be really easy, when it's not. Please, enlighten me.
