Manvel teen gets 12 years for providing lethal synthetic drugs (25I-NBOMe)

His lack of common sense caused his own OD
The 16-year old's (or whatever his age was) lack of common sense caused his death.
Each person was responsible for their own overdose.
Each person is responsible for what s/he chooses to put into his/her body.
Without solid, science-based information and a realistic approach and attitude towards drugs, people don't even know to do research before putting chemicals into their bodies.

I kinda disagree. He presented his friends with lines of a unknown substance, promoting them in such a way that it would be appealing for the others to try (who really knows how this went down). Yeah, everyone should be responsible for their own actions, but he presented them with a huge amount of such a potent substance probably just telling them they'll have a nice trip, leading them straight to their deaths. IMO this is a different type of situation than someone seeking out a dealer for a drug. A friend presented his friends (people who trusted him) to give them a trip of some sort.

Holy shit, put it in lines? I first felt a little sorry for the person, but not so much now...
I usually don't believe in blaming and charging the dealer but I agree with you on this one. That idiot had no buisness selling a drug he knew nothing about to some 15 year old idiot that knew nothing about it not to mention he gave the kid massive doses. It would be differnt if the kid dosed him self.

It wasn't even necessarily selling. From what I can tell he pulled out a baggie/container of 25I-NBOMe, pour out enough for multiple relatively massive lines (for 25I), separate into individual lines, insufflate the line put out for himself, he tells his friends they are free to indulge in a drug that will make them trip (potentially alluding to a potential experience similar to other psychedelic drugs like LSD), and with aid of his trust and relationships with these friends they agree to dose themselves with the previously laid lines that will lead to their untimely death and his overdose. He should be punished, but I think what hes being charged with and potentially sentenced to is waaay to harsh.

He did dose himself.

It wasn't selling at all, apparently.

Did someone tell those kids that pharmacists and doctors really are overblown, and actually don't know anything more than a random friend of theirs?
Did their drug educations - provided by their parents, themselves, their schools, and their governments - fail miserably by forgetting to tell them not to take random amounts of random drugs provided by random friends? Clearly the answer to this one is "yes".
Should the guy who provided the drug, and also took the drug himself, and overdosed, be blamed for the failure of their educations?

If my friend walks out into a busy street without looking, and I follow him because I trust him - let's pretend that he tells me that there is no problem, and it will be safe - and we both get hit by cars, should my friend get in trouble? I could have looked myself, right? In the same way, these kids could have researched the material and the proper dosage themselves.

this is the kind of irresponsibility that leads to bans of such beautiful substances-
doing lines?!?!? asking for trouble.
i feel very sorry for the family members involved and the poor kid whos gonna do some time...
but this should be seen as a warning to anyone looking into RCs- take this shit seriously.
ESPECIALLY something as potent as 25inbome.
research research research.
dont just hop in and hope every chemical is as forgiving as LSD or THC.
Stock up.
and be ready.

All, true, but you have to factor in that there will always be idiots when it comes to dosing substances. Chain smoking and getting lung cancer in your 40's, people dying or committing suicide from overdoses or withdrawal complications of potent gabergics/opiates, psychotic delusional amp abusers who ruined their body and mind, the countless alcohol related deaths, overdoses, murders/assaults/domestic abuse from ethanol inflated egos or psychotic episodes under other drugs, drunk driving victims and the drivers as well, psychotic/schizophrenic people who had their symptoms induced/amplified by thc/lsd/psychs, and the incomprehensible damage done by pharmaceuticals designed for profit, not efficacy.

The problem is banning them in the first place, even if we had perfectly logical and rational drug laws there would still be fuck ups who do stupid shit.

I agree with pretty much all you are saying, but at the same time, i know the more they ban, the more money spent on enforcement, the more damage done by driving drugs underground, and the more obvious BS propagated, just contributes to the end of the war on drugs. We will go broke before we have a chance to "ban em all", which is an idealistic, impossible, and not realistic based tactic.

It can only get so rediculous before people realize more harm/$ is being done prohibiting, than if they were legal, quality regulated, age restricted, and proper information provided. Its easy to say how dangerous 25i is, while ignoring the fact alcohol in doses 3x more than getting fucked up has a high potential to leave you dead, not to mention its acute toxicity.

I don't disagree with what you are saying in the least. My point is its not people being irresponsible with these drugs and dying, or whatever harm comes their way from doing so, shouldn't affect their legality. But not everyone sees it that way, and thats why bans exist.

Don't hate the poster children, hate the people who support and implement/enforce said BS, and those who line up in droves shouting protect the children to get the support needed for prohibition. No fault lies on these idiots that die/ruin their lives with any drug, thats their own mistake. To blame their irresponsible use, because of the mass hysterical attitude people take towards dangerous drugs because they are "new and dangerous", or "dangerous because they are illegal, as the DEA administrator said", is to ignore the problem of how illogical the majority of people view drug use of any kind. Their ignorance is the enemy, ignoramuses who die using substances irresponsibly are either stupid, or just martyrs who made mistakes that could have been avoided.

No blame is to be laid on the OD victims, but the supporters of prohibition, and the analog laws that create a (technically speaking) black market of RC's, since theres no real research going on by and large by users of such. At least in a scientific sense.

Daytryper, i see where youre coming from and i agree completley. You blew my mind. Thanks for the lesson
