LAS CRUCES - A Doña Ana man has been charged with criminal sexual penetration for allegedly trying to hide almost an ounce of heroin inside a female companion during a traffic stop.
Stephen B. Holguin, 26, of the 1700 block of Sal Si Puedes, was indicted Thursday by a Doña Ana County grand jury on charges of drug trafficking, tampering with evidence and criminal sexual penetration.
The city-county Metro Narcotics Agency began surveillance on Holguin after receiving a tip that he had about 21 grams of heroin and was being picked up by a female at the Sands Motel in Las Cruces on Nov. 3.
When police stopped the green Honda in which the two were driving because it had expired registration, officers noted Holguin "making furtive movements toward the driver of the vehicle and under and near the console of the vehicle," according to court documents.
Holguin allegedly admitted to stuffing marijuana under his seat, which officers recovered.
But when officers interviewed the driver, she revealed Holguin had also "retrieved a plastic bag with a dark substance from inside his pants, then shoved the bag in her crotch area against her intimate parts" and ordered her to "shove this up there," court documents state.
