I'm new to this website and forums in general so I wasn't sure where to post this?!

I've been living in Manchester as a student (centrally) for a few months and have been utterly disappointed by the events on offer; I moved from london. It seems to have been saturated by crap identikit student nights. Does anyone know any good raves/events? I love house nights and electro. I love events such as like tribe of frog in bristol or warehouse project . Basically, nights going past 4am at least! ;) It seems I cant find anything going past 4am for my mandied mind, so any help would be welcome :D

Yep, you posted in the right place! If you're disappointed by Manchester you're doing it all wrong.. I shall have a thinky think and let you know what nights I recommend (though am more a dnb/trance kinda person so not often found at housey nights.)

Gorillas got some decent nights on, went to see digweed there this fri, and richy Ahmed and waff a couple of months back. Then of course whp during the winter.

Dunno if it's your scene, but relapse put on some pretty wicked jungle nights as well. Just have a nosy through skiddle, I'm sure you'll find something to your taste

Im not a house head but venues you should be checking out are soundcontrol, gorilla, joshua brooks, band on the wall, the albert hall, antwerp mansion and nq live when/if it reopens. You should easily be able to find something decent at one of those venues.

Pft, pretty much what I was gonna say.. :p

Also check out selective hearing which is meant to put on some decent house events.. illuminaughty is psytrance every few months and has a big/friendly Tribe of Froggish vibe.. there's also Sankeys which is worth checking out once or twice even though it's a bit shit and they have a dog on the door, but if you like WHP then you might enjoy it.

I really didnt like Sankeys, i didnt like the music atall, and got hassled by obvious undercover police asking if i knew where they could get any pills. Dunno if The Phoenix on / just off Oxford Road is still going, but that played far better trance music and had a better crowd, and anything seemed to be available there, im not talking about drugs, of course not, i mean the opposite sex, like. Its been about 15 years since i last went to that kind of thing. Since i started on SSRIs i cant take MDMA and stuff like that anymore as it just doesnt work, which is a bit of a bummer, allthough possibly just as well for me in the long run.

..am I old fashioned in that I go clubbing for the dancing and music, not to pull? Or was that sarcasm? :D

(And the Phoenix closed years ago, though nights that it was famous for like Tangled still run elsewhere. And I love Manc trance nights for the crowds, yeah.)

Ah, good good. There is a chance I haven't quite yet recovered from last night. My sarcasm radar isn't quite working right. :p

thanks! :D I haven't been to a trance night before but I'd give any night ago really, I dont mind

yeah I've been checking out skiddle :) I went to whp last year and it was pretty good. I do some some people that go to gorilla so i'll check that out, thanks :D

That is a bit of a bummer, I was on those once but It didn't do me much good at the time. I've not heard of the phoenix before, I'll do some digging :D
