I remember an Unsolved Mysteries episode about Luiz Diaz, a hispanic guy from Miami who was wrongly convicted of being the "bird road rapist." a bunch of rapes that happened on Bird Road all got pinned on Diaz, despite the fact that he was 5'3 and non-English speaking and all the girls had varying descriptions of different sounding guys who were always way taller than Diaz and fluent in English. some of the girls didn't pick Diaz out of the lineup until the detectives basically did it for them. one detective even lied about statements that Diaz's neighbors made. it was so corrupt, and a new trial for Diaz kept getting denied for 25 years. apparently he isn't getting any compensation from FL either. this is a fucked up state and I wish I had never come here for college.
