Man rips off part of his penis; cops say the drugs made him do it - Mushrooms

A 41-year-old Columbus, Ohio, man is recovering after, police said, he ripped off part of his penis during a drug-fueled high in Ypsilanti Township.

Washtenaw County Sheriff’s deputies found the man naked and screaming after responding to a burglar alarm at Ypsilanti Middle School, 105 N. Mansfield St., about 1 a.m. Tuesday, Sgt. Geoff Fox said Monday.

The man was kneeling outside the school and bloody from the waist down, with parts of his genitals ripped off, Fox said. He said parts of the man’s body were transferred to the hospital with him.

“He really wasn’t saying much at all — a lot of yelling and screaming,” Fox said, adding the man had broken a window to the school but didn’t take anything. “He wasn’t making sense. They couldn’t really communicate with him in terms of constructive conversation.”

The man later told investigators he picked up hallucinogenic mushrooms earlier in the day while he was in town visiting friends in a neighborhood near the school. The man does not have a history of mental problems or extensive drug use, Fox said.

“We’ve sent his blood off for further analysis to see if there was anything else, if the mushrooms could have been laced with something,” Fox said, adding that toxicology results are pending.

Medics first took the man to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Superior Township. Sheriff’s Office spokesman Derrick Jackson said the man is being treated at University of Michigan Health System.

Fox declined to discuss details of the man’s treatment but said he had been close to death.

“In terms of vital signs, they were as low as they could go without being dead — I could only assume due to the blood loss and the shock and trauma to the body,” he said.

Ouch.

Yeah I saw some insane shit when I had mushrooms in Bali, the curtains and walls were making faces and patters and moving, I've never tripped so hard on any acid, and I've had some really strong lsd in my time.
 
Considering that mushrooms can be so powerful, we don't really need to posit another drug as being responsible without knowing more.
Also, even if another drug was responsible, considering that there are thousands of potential candidates, don't you think it's premature to be guessing which one did it, based on absolutely no evidence?
 
I love shrooms. They might not give you the same visuals as lsd, but they always come with a sense of profundity, adventure, and euphoria. Though I must say, I did try to take a piss in the backyard at night on them once, and ended up thinking that the trees (which looked skeletal without leaves) were trying to grab me.

You would have to be up for over a week on Meth before you snapped that bad. Dust fits the bill much better.
 
A lot of people think the natural progression of legalization will be pot then mushrooms. A few horror stories don't help the mushrooms case, even though most people don't rip off body parts while shrooming, the media don't report that. I hate hallucinogen horror stories because the other side exploits them ruthlessly. Shrooms are very popular and horror stories are statistically rare. He should have a trip sitter if he was a 40 year old shroom virgin because they are powerful. Maybe he ate a lot too. Shrooms are rarely if ever laced, that's just police scare tactics.

I had the best visuals off shrooms, it was really intense. Havent ever had anything close to that with lsd before.

Everytime some thing nasty like this happen everybody is like pcp made him do it. I believe that shit before i tried pcp myself. ANd i dont understand how someone goes running and fighting cops and shit, i was floored on the couch for most of the time and will i admit it was a strange and at some moments dark exprience, i couldnt imagine walking more than a few feet.

Well the way someone acts on a drug may be different than how someone else acts... shit I know if I had some shrooms I wouldn't be ripping off any body parts, but I guess some people do :\

I cant imagine doing something like that.. Ive been incoherent as fuck from a large dose of mushrooms before though (7g) in a totally different world. I actually tried to jump out of a moving vehicle.. had my friend not had the wits about him to lock the doors that could have ended very badly. perhaps not as bad as tearing my penis off but still bad nonetheless. I'd also like to note that in any normal circumstance this is not something I would attempt. I also walked into the middle of a river once - at night... good times.
