Man Nearly Dies After Taking DMT (and gets his source arrested)

I wonder how much DMT a human being would have to ingest to actually die from the acute effects. Probably quite a bit more than most people even have access to.
 
More than anyone would ever try to take imo, but I'm sure there's some people out there that have setup a catheter IV and had multiple grams IV'd into them.. that's utterly insain.
 
Some people shouldn't do mindblowing psychedelics...I wouldn't necesarilly call him a "dirty rat"...maybe a "dumb fucking idiot" and/or "rat",..especially since he was obviously tripping the fuck out and then gained enough sanity to talk to the cops. Maybe that's what help him think he was keeping his sanity though...in his mind, to get sober, by fessing up. I can actually see this making sense, not that'd do it. I'd honestly keep lying and they could go fuck themselves...it'd be like sticking it to the universe! har

To be fair, most doctors get taught virtually nothing about common drugs such as heroin or coke during their medical training, let alone slightly more unusual ones (most of my friends don't know what DMT is, even if everyone here does..) There is hardly any good information in the text books and it isn't commonly discussed in medical journals. However, I feel that anyone working as an emergency doctor should make it their business to read up on such things.

I think emergency medicine is harder than you might think actually, you have to have knowledge of virtually every medical condition there is and be able to recall it quickly in an emergency. Specialism would be much easier I think! But that's just my oinion :)
 
^Exactly, but if most doctors did know this information, I still don't think you'd be hearing much other than lies and scare-tactics. Doctors are a very socio-political group of people. They're also mostly republican. lol.
 
I felt like I was dying the first time I did DMT... never once did I think about calling 911 or ratting my dealer out.... I was just thinking "I hope I make it out of this trip!"
 
I can't get over how nonsensical this medical doctor's warning about DMT is. It affects the pineal gland... SO IT WILL TURN OFF YOUR BRAIN!!! Erm, have I ever seen or heard of this happening? Well, no... Drugs are bad, stfu!

I'm not sure which thought is worse: that even educated medical professionals will happily lie to the public if they think it'll help reinforce the "drugs are bad" message, or the possibility that this guy doesn't realise how absolutely ludicrous what he said is and is still allowed to practice medicine.
 
I hate to break this to you, but in a non-sensical world you might be right. How you describe the doctor is how I'd imagine any well versed doctor. Of course he'd say that shit...just like your mom would say you did a good job. Are you waiting for him to also tell you that he writes himself scripts of hydromorphone?
 
I've come to expect almost panic-attack-like symptoms whenever I smoke DMT...

Yeah it's scary as hell sometimes, but I always know it will end eventually.

I emailed them and got a minor response back, but free of useful information about whether they'd correct or not.
 
typical bullshit, not really that shocking, i mean how many well-reasoned and articulate news articles are written these days on psychedelic drugs? hardly any...
