Man Finds Brick Of Unknown Substance In Water Near Marathon, Fla., Sniffs It And Dies

Yea its pretty reckless to do something like that, however if i was fishing in the florida keys and i found a brick of a mystery powder in the ocean i would probably pull it aboard and give it a sample....maybe not snort it lol, but if it was coke you could easily tell by tasting it. If it wasnt coke who knows what it could be...sometimes you see ppl sell sham bricks of coke cut, just levamisole and creatine ort whatever. I think it probably was some really pure cocaine and this guy had a crazy freak out episode and somehow keeled over.

Thats crazy. When we were little kids our friend found a brick of white powder that washed up and gave it to the life guard

as for the story I dont believe they found it floating while fishing, I think those dudes brought the white powder on the boat with them and get high and this dude couldnt handle it and they got rid of it making up the story that they found it to save their asses.

Haha no one is listening to you man, I hear you. This makes alot more sense than the fuckin story that the boaters def made up.

I mean come on first you find a brick of white powder and then a guy without even thinking snorts enough of it to od on whatever it was. I would think even if he was to try it like someone else said he could have put a little on his gums or take a small enoguh bump to where even if it was white china or somethin he would be ok. Fishyyy.

And lol at "even when high on nose candy" ha nose candy fuckin gooons.

Damn, it could have been hydrochloric acid, lye, whatever... any further word on what it was?

could've been smoking rock and the guy OD'd, so they dumped everything. they may've brought it on board, they may've found it, or they may've been getting/retrieving it for financial reasons at a predetermined spot, given this happened off marathon (the FL keys area).
/and i'm not sure i'm buying into anyone's story of "i wouldn't touch it w/o testing it!" I'm not saying everyone would just slice the thing open and go hog-wild, but it'd be extremely easy to determine that you found a brick off of marathon, it reeked of coke, a dab numbed your tongue, ergo it's coke so have some fun!
//them 'finding' this, his brother just arbitrarily snorting it behind his back, his brother throwing away the cell/vhf and wrecking the engine, then him ditching the product = SKETCHY fucking details. 100000:1 odds the reported story is at least partially fabricated. who the fuck would find a brick off of marathon, *regardless* of their personal preferences, and just put it aside and keep on fishing?!

seriously. WTF can't they just do some kind of "initial toxicology" report? is it a privacy thing? you'd think they'd be able to at least say there were high levels of <substanceX>, whether it's this dude or winehouse :|

^^ True, I forgot... potassium hydroxide or something then, maybe. A white powder could be anything, hard to believe someone snorted it just out of the blue.

I also don't buy this story. It sounds like a cover-up. Whether they killed the guy and are covering up the homicide, or brought drugs and are covering up both the drugs and his accidental death, I don't know, but I'm just not buying this. Granted, props for coming up with the craziest cover-up story I've ever heard. Did they figure it was so unbelievable that the cops HAD to believe them? >.>

How likely is it that a brick of some random, dangerous chemical to be floating in the water? if that is the true story. I just don't see, if the story is true, why someone would brick it up, it seems like stuff like that would be more closely monitored.

i don't get it? Its not that hard to tell if a white powder is coke or not, just taste it and see if it makes ur tongue go numb...?? if not then you know its obviously something else...

It could also be something like say cyanide which you really wouldn't want in your mouth so that's not the best test either. Id just gun that boat right into shore and find out what it is when i got in ASAP.

Exactly........I mean, how desperate can someone be to just start railing lines of white unknown powder, thats insane in the membrane.

MDPV isn't illegal though, there wouldn't really be a point of bricking it up for transportation. I figured MDPV came from SE Asia or was being manufactured in the U.S. I figured south america was focused on coke/h production.

alasdair
+1 hahaha. Best post in the thread award.

Sharks, dolphins, whales, groupers, everything but the most intelligent being on Earth knew not to touch it but this guy.

WTF just snorts white powder after finding it in the middle of the ocean. Get the shit tested before even thinking about sniffing. People ultimately hold their lives in their own hands when it comes to drugs & if you drop your guard one bit, it can mean your life.

the average person doesn't think like us BLers

^ Ya, no kidding. The majority of drug users out there would do exactly what this guy did in that situation. That is; if this story is actually true and he's not trying to cover something.

What makes me mad about articles like this (there's enough of them) is that they never publish the results of what the substance actually was. They just publish a sensational article, and even if an analysis comes in, the story is already old news and mundane details like the true material involved aren't worth publishing.

Journalists in general don't give a shit about the subject matter they're reporting on. They certainly aren't on our side when it comes to being scientific and delivering the truth about drug related news.

You're right, its all about the latest selling headline news. There are rarely any follow ups like you've mentioned.
