Stop resisting!
LAUDERDALE BY THE SEA (CBSMiami) – It wasn’t a whale or a manatee that washed ashore a Broward beach Friday morning but a handful of square groupers and soon after, one person was arrested.

A total of four bricks of marijuana, also known as square groupers, came ashore just north of the fishing pier at 2 Commercial Boulevard in Lauderdale by the Sea.

According to the police complaint affidavit, a witness spotted Reginaldo Azevedo on the beach as he picked up one of the bricks near the pier and started to walk away.

When an officer told Azevedo to “stop”, he simply took off running, said police.

Then, according to the report, the officer saw Azevedo throw the brick into some sand dunes near 1850 S. Ocean Boulevard.

According to BSO spokeswoman Keyla Concepcion, each brick weighed about 15 pounds each and the estimated street value of the pot is between $50,000 -$75,000.

Azevedo was taken into custody and charged with possession of cannabis and tampering with physical evidence.

I don't know about Lauderdale by the Sea, but just north of there is a fucking nest of AA/NA types. Possibly the reason everyone on the beach snitched on him like little 1st graders.

No shit, I was on the beach just north of there off Cypress Creek Rd. today. Glad I didn't see it I would probably be in Broward lockup tonight.

Imaging the situation, maybe I would have pretended to gather the weed and take it to the cops. Then, a quick detour, and I show up with one (or two) fewer bricks than I found.

But with all those (nasty) people around, it may have been very hard. If he only could have covered one with sand to hide it for later!

^ If there were people around or anyone else who could have seen me, I would have definitely hid a brick or two and then called the cops. On one hand, I'm the concerned public servant working to help the authorities, and on the other hand I'm a degenerate pot smoker with enough weed to last him a year or more (or less). That sounds like a win-win to me.

Some guys just fuck up when opportunity comes a-knockin' :\

He only picked up 1? Shit i'd have snaffled all 4 and swam straight out the country.

yeah im sure you could outswim the coast guard with 60 extra pounds on you in street clothes

^ Touching the weed and inhaling the smell made him feel inebriated, and he didn't know what he was doing?
Years ago, 1989 I was in south Miami and found a brick of cocaine, picked it up and carried it back to the boat we were in on shore. 200 meters or so to the slip I started to feel funny. On the boat people told me my face was really red and swollen.20 minutes later the medics were there for overdose. I was applauded hero for turning over 2kg (4.5lbs) cocaine. Moral, wear gloves when handling wet, saltwater drugs!!I almost died being a fiend...eh I mean hero!!!!

it was just sitting there unwrapped and stuff? How does that happen, even if it was wrapped, does it come thru that much to effect you that hard so quickly? Not doubting your story, just interested is all.

One layer kinda thin plastic and one layer kinda coarse burlap (?) dunno. I thought it was marijuana at first. Don't know how it happened. My arms got heavy at first then I thought my body was gonna explode!!Then my girlfriend called 911. I was f@#^ed up. I never thought coke. But later found out it was at least 95% pure. Can't find the paper but May 5, 1989 if anyone finds it. Small article

spewing u didnt get it back to your boat safely and party for the next month or two hehe

What an idiot, trying to run from the cops. I'd have just turned heel and said, jovially, that I was going to hand it in at the police station and tell them about the rest, or something like that.

And how does that work? Were your hands covered in bleeding wounds? Salts of drugs don't magically slip through the vast defense system (several layers of skin designed to prevent such things from happening) and into your bloodstream. Let alone that if this brick was still existence it was wrapped carefully, as Water would dissolve such, fast. Imconfused. .

Did they test for cocaine in your body at the hospital? I'd imagine the adrenaline rush from finding, and taking, a brick of cocaine would be pretty extreme. Maybe a more likely explanation?

Probably a big part of why the guy with the weed ran on seeing the cop too.
