Man arrested after ecstasy find
A 41-year-old man has been arrested in Perth after allegedly trying to import close to five kilograms of ecstasy tablets.
Australian Federal Police allege the man attempted to import the drugs in luggage which arrived on a Qantas flight from Bangkok yesterday.
The man had arrived in Perth earlier from Bangkok on a Thai Airlines flight.
Customs X-rayed the man's luggage, the drugs were removed and the luggage delivered to him at a Perth hotel where he was later arrested.
The Federal Minister for Justice and Customs, Chris Ellison, says the 19,000 tablets have a street value of about $1 million.
The man is due to appear in court later today.

people breaking the law for financial gain.
seems like cricket to me!!
:P
I wonder if much gets in via the airport, it seems so easy to get busted. You'd think most would come on board shipping containers.

I drink piss with a few of the customs / quarantine guys every now and again.
They reckon they pick up about 10%-12%.
I have no idea how they come to this figure.

from what i saw on the news, and what i saw last night, it looked like they were white genies. same proportions and colour. pity, since they are a good pill. they always seem to get the decent shipments. bastards.

Werent the genies cylindrical?
At first i thought they were butterflies, then it looked like the batman logo, then i thought an apple.
I guess it could have been a genie lamp.
But it sucks though, that amount sounds spot on for Perth, probably our supply for the labour day weekend.
FUCK!

It said in the paper this morning that they were tracking this guy from London. Seems most big busts are tip-offs. I wonder if this guy pissed someone off?
Customs dont appear to find much under there own iniative.

I didn't see the article so i dunno for sure but it could have just been file footage. I remember one of our last busts on tv they used file footage.
Who knows we may see a few of them floating around some how anyway. *cough* corruption

This is what justice and customs minister Senator Ellison had to say in the sunday times today:
"Thanks to the hard work of Perth Customs and local AFP officers there are 19,000 people who will be safer on our streets tonight."
Um...NO!
Sunday Times also worth getting for the cover story. I could not believe how blatant it/he was; the race is on i guess.

hahahaha
19,000 more people are going to be put in dangerous by intercepting good pills, leaving a higher % of shit pills in the market..
i wanna be a politician, to think like em you gotta be on something

what a waste hey, probly wont make the streets safer coz everyone will still take drugs - but it wont be quality. Anyway i wonder who counted 19000 pills....what a chore ....NOT hehehe. Bring on the corruption.

and a theory on the 10-12% estimate.. it could come from determining roughly how many pills are munched every weekend.. and compare that to how many are intercepted..

If you were an importer would you import 19000 pills or a more round number like 20000.
I'm not saying anything
