Mallinckrodt changed their Roxicodone IR and generic Oxycodone HCl IR pill construction. They not longer look like the same. Now "pressed fentanyl" pills are obvious looking like the old design.

They are supposed to not dissolve for IV use as well and snorting them does not produce the same effect. The pills are larger and are dark blue.

They still dissolve under the tongue well, which is what I do.

Here is the update -- Mallinckrodt changed the 10mg and 20mg tablets to the SpecGx construction. The other strengths (5mg, 15mg, 30mg) are the same formula, construction, and/or design. The active ingredient strength is the same.

I am not sure why Mallinckrodt introduced the SpecGx LLC formula to only the 10mg and 20mg tablets and chose to leave the other dosage strengths the same. The only reason I can think of was to offer a so-called "abuse deterrent" option for patients. The SpecGx formulation is supposed to not dissolve well for IV use and snorting does not achieve the desired effect anymore. The SpecGx 20mg tablets are larger than the older 30mg tablets and the 10mg & 20mg tablets are a different color than before.

I thought it would be smart for them to change the 30mg tablets design so the "pressed fentanyl" tablets would be an outdated comparison signalling they were not real Oxycodone.

I ended up with a dozen "K-9 30mg" tablets to complete the Rx count. That brand is still the same as I remember. For some reason, they cost more than the Mallinckrodt 30mg and the "K-9's" are not stronger or better by any means.
