i've been taking benzo's for a long time now from the doctor. around 8mgs of xanax a day. 6 mg's are at night before bed because i suffer from sleeping disorders. My question to you guys is. I messed up and ran out of my script. I am able to use my 10mg valiums though that i had a script for. i have around 60 10g pills.how many valiums will it take to measure up to the 6mgs of xanax though?that 10mgs of valium is like .5mgs of xanax? sound right to you? i just want to be sure i can take these tonight and not worrry about getting sick?

yes, you will be completely fine. however, valium is much more sedating than xanax, and has a lonngggg half-life, no joke like 40-200 hours.

for me personally,

10mg valium = .75mg xanax

i prefer valium over xanax anyday.

I prefer it to but Only because of the Rebound you get with Xanax. I do find Xanax the best for anxiety atleast my anxiety issues. I just dont feel the rebound is worth it when Diazepam is just as quick and longer lasting.

I think 50mgs should be perfect in your situation. I am on the same dose 6mgs of Xanax And I remember when I was taking 4mgs of Xanax 40mgs diazepam seemed perfect but you may need 60mgs for awhile.

I just reread that you took more than your script says this is not answerable unless you csn tell us how dependent you are. If you are new to Diazepam try 35mgs and see how it works. I dunno

I agree, and my conversion is basically the same it's just that I put the equivalent dose by keeping the xanax the steady dose, so;
.5 xanax = 7.5mgs valium

When I did my taper I actually switched from 1mg of xanax to 10 mgs of valium, and I was fine.

Now you will not feel the same effects from the valium as you did from the xanax, but the valium should keep the withdrawal symptoms at bay, especially after a few days of using it. Again, I wouldn't expect the equivalent doses mentioned of valium to take care of panic attacks in the same manner that xanax would, but if you are concerned about withdrawals, those doses will be fine. My Doctor actually laughed when I was tapering off xanax and asked for 20mgs of valium when I was switching off of 1mg of xanax. I'm glad I listened to him and just took the 10mgs of valium, or that would have been an extra few months of lowering doses.

OP, if you have already found the dose that works for you can you report back? It would be nice to have another persons experience of the xanax - valium equivalence.

I did and yes youbwill be fine and better off.... Can miss a day or two and not worry so much on the vallies!!!!!

^ That's really one of the best things about it. When I was prescribed xanax, I probably only made it past the 24hr mark without dosing once in the 4 or so years I was scripted it. When I switched to valium, I was taking it every other day for a while, and could make it to day 3 without much of a problem. It at least gives you some peace of mind knowing that it's not that big of a deal if you can't dose one day.

Yes, sir, you shall be completely and utterly fine, even better probably. Xanax is sh..., I mean necrotic offal, in my experience at least. Unless there are addictive personality issues in the background, exchanging Xanax for Valium is a qualitative upgrade in anxiolysis, frankly. Xanax produces the most superficial, barely sensible feeling of anxiety-relief for perhaps a few minutes, and then fizzles out ineffectually. The most over-rated anti-anxiety drug on the market, IMO, and the stigmatization attached to the drug is a mystery to me additionally. Good luck with the diazepam.

This niggas got it done right. It may not cure your panic attacks but the valium will keep the withdrawal at bay. In a very loose sense I would say valium is like the subutex of the benzo world. It doesn't take much to keep the withdrawals at bay.
