Making QWISO Hash. Intermediate question.

So I'm quite enjoying making (superstrong) hash with just the leaves and leftovers after I've harvested a plant. I'm using the QWISO method. Quick Wish with ISOpropyl alcohol if you're not familiar, google it.)
Tastes wonderful (sometimes a bit harsh) and effect is amazing.
Pure THC euphoria without paranoia. Absolutely high (not stoned) for 4-6 hours. Reminds me of a light-medium psychedelic trip. Only side-effect is complete loss of short term memory recall. ;)

On to my question: thing is that the product I have is *extremely* oily/sticky. I've poured the ISO onto a pyrex tray and after evaporation I'm left with this oily substance. There is no way I can transport this out of my house, unless on the tray. :) I have to use a knife to scrape it off the tray. Glinsters beautifully :). Then I take some tobacco or weed and wrap it around the tip of the knife, wrapping weed around what I scraped of. Is there anyway to make this stuff less sticky and more like "real" hash in block form ? It would be nice to transport this stuff more easily. Google says use baking soda or other weird stuff but that's not my cup of tea. Also adding more ISO is mentioned but that doesn't do the trick for me.
That's why I come to the more knowledgable boys on the interwebz for pro-tips !

Thanks in advance !

I have personally found that a little pinch ash or shake will help, then just wrap it in tin foil.

If you have wax paper, wrap it up and put in the the fridge/freezer. After 5 minutes you have a rock type substance that you can break up for a minute before it starts to get oily again.

We carried our liquid hash around in eye dropper bottles and smeared them all over joints or blunts, the little bottles are convenient for carrying around and just a couple dropsll do ya. My dealer used to sell them in little glass vials a little shorter and wider than a cigarette with a little screw on cap too. Perhaps you could find something like that at a craft store or even the smoke shop (at least my smoke shop, where they openly sell baggies and several kind sof "oil burner" meth pipes.

I am unaware of how you might further reduce it to dry hash though, I always sifted and pressed when I made my solid hash.

Thanks for the tips !

phenethylo, what do you mean by "a little pinch ash or shake". My english isn't bad but i don't know what you mean :)

w01fg4 , Didn't know what wax paper was, looked it up, gonna try this !

dankplantgrower: It isn't *that* liquid, unfortunately. I would love to carry it around and smear it on smokables :).

I meant to say pinch of ash or shake you know like a tiny bit of some little burnt dust particle from your pipe or some shake which is just finely ground bud.

Store it the way you would wax. If done right, QWISO has the texture and consistency of shatter, more or less, at least as far as the stickyness.

Then I must be doing something wrong, because it's way "stickier". Initially I left the bud in contact with the ISO for 30 seconds, now I let them touch only 15-20. No real difference, IMO.

Is the stickyness active ingredients or mostly chlorophyl/plant matter ? Now I'm reading on other forums (i know, blasphemy) that the quality of the ISO could play a role. I have 99% pure (pharmacy grade). Some say 91% pure is better because it extracts less unwanted stuff.

^is it somewhat liquid-y?

Not really. Not enough liquidy to carry around in a vial anyway. And not enough "firm" substance to put it inside a container/baggie/foil. It just sticks to everything it touches and I need a knife to scrape it off the plate. Then I need some weed to rub the stickyness off the knife, and place that in a joint. It's really impossible to handle. A wonder to smoke though.

The texture kind of reminds me of how black hash looks/feels when you've warmed it up a bit to loosen it up. Only this sticks so much.

Hmm... Well, it sounds like your almost there, and i'm sure your product is perfectly smokeable, but you should try mixing in a bit of shake/trim if you want a more solid product. I personally like the sticky/oily nature of QWISO, because i tend to smoke it off of a skillet, but for a joint, the best i can suggest is to mix it with a tad of shake.

If you give it a second try, you should try using 91% ISO, and instead of letting it sit for 30 seconds, shake it up for like 5 seconds and let it sit for 10 more, then filter it. While it seems counterintuitive, I feel like it pulls just enough of plant matter off that it would help making a less sticky product.

Ok thanks definetly gonna try this.

Also, now I realize by "shake/trim" you mean the stuff that gets collected in the bottom part of the grinder, right ? just add this to the leaves I use ?

Part of the reason QWISO is sticky/liquid rather than a hard wax is because it's really hard to get all traces of water and isopropanol out without basically cooking the stuff, which is no bueno. You should really strive to use 99% isopropanol, not 91%, as the remaining 9% water is more than enough to make a goopy mess of most extractions.

Freezing will only temporarily make it harder, you really have to mix in ground plant material if you want some "consistency", otherwise you need to reprocess it (dissolve in dry solvent and add drying agents to remove water).

If you have access to VM&P naptha it's a way better extraction solvent, doubly so if you extract then dry the goody-saturated naptha with dry magnesium sulfate, then evaporate...
