Makes Sense? Yay or Nay?

This - The fact that people seem to be getting dumber and dumber. You know, I mean we have all this amazing technology and yet computers have turned into basically four figure wank machines. The internet was supposed to set us free, democratize us, but all it’s really given us is Howard Dean’s aborted candidacy and 24 hour a day access to kiddie porn. People…they don’t write anymore - they blog. Instead of talking, they text, no punctuation, no grammar: LOL this and LMFAO that. You know, it just seems to me it’s just a bunch of stupid people pseudo-communicating with a bunch of other stupid people at a proto-language that resembles more what cavemen used to speak than the King’s English...

I read that like 30 times trying to decide if it makes sense..I think it does, but is it also true?

There is a moderate inverse correlation between intelligence and the number of kids one will have. Hence, on average humans (at least in 'the west') are getting dumber. Have you ever seen Idiocracy? It's by the same guys who did Office Space, and is a hilarious film dealing with this subject.

Hilarious, until you see how much our society is moving in parallel directions as that one.

Thanks for the comment Dave, I will go check out Idiocracy when i have some free time.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks people are getting thicker...

The only reason that the average IQ hasn't been shown to be decreasing is that an IQ of 100 is defined as the average IQ for that testing period. Well, that and the fact that defining something as complex as 'intelligence' one-dimensionally is like only giving someone one coordinate and expecting them to meet you: 'Meet me on 63rd street'. Doesn't tell you much, now does it? So quantifying intelligence is tough.
