I've been seeing a pain doc for about 3 years, and on dilaudid for just as long. Each visit there is a urine test and never a problem.
A couple weeks ago I was visiting friends and forgot to bring my pill box. Pain got to be so bad I wanted to chop my leg off and I live an hour away. So a friend said try this it will help. It ended up being a meth pipe. Well he was right, it helped more then the Dilaudid and I take 32mg (4 8mg pills).
Due to the quantity I take its hard to find a drug store that has a month supply so I get 2 two week scripts a month. Next day I look at the spot were I keep the second script. Its not there, then I remembered it was in the CVS bag when I came home and I had picked up 11 other meds and put all the patient info sheets in it with the cotton and all and threw it away and I never took out the script and I need a refill in a couple days but couldn't wait with the weekend coming. So I had to fill a police report and go to see her and of course they hand me the cup which goes off to a lab. So I know Im going to get popped. I cannot lose getting my pain meds. The pain gets so bad that amputation of my leg was offered as an option. Ive got PAD its basically blood clots in the arteries of my legs that even stents clogged up.
So do I tell her the truth or would saying I was in a closed room where a lot of people were smoking. I hate to lose her trust.
Any advice on the best way to approach this on my next visit would be appreciated.
