So, 10 days ago I came off a 100 dollar a day dope habit which I had for about a year, although it wasnt 100 a day the whole year. The first two days I took large doses of suboxone but since then I have had nothing but tiny doses of suboxone (around .5 mg per day) just to ease the pain and I have been in constant withdrawal.

My problem is that I cant sleep at all. I have been awake for about 70 hours now after sleeping 2 hours and being awake God knows how long before that. Even taking larger doses of suboxone like 1.5 mg doesnt allow me to sleep, so tonight I did a microscopic amount of dope in the hope i will be able to catch a few hours of sleep before work tomorrow.

What I want to is, will a microscopic amount of heroin set me back less than a large dose of sub? I cant help but think it would, seeing as how in 12 hours ill be back in total PAWS whereas if i took a large dose of sub to sleep, it would be 3 days before it wore off. I am trying to avoid getting hooked ob sub. I know that I need to be on nothing at all, but I just couldnt take another sleepless night especially after my fluight home today ( i left the state to get clean).

using any opiate will set you back..you are beter off taking a benzo to get you to sleep as long as u dont have history with them..trust me, ive been where you are at, insomnia killed me when i kicked..it slowly gets better though trust me..stay away from all opiates..

I WISH I could take some sort of benzo, that would be such a godsend. Unfortunately, I had an enourmous benzo addiction that I finally got off of a few years ago and although I am mostly recovered, I still have some symptoms from that hanging around like ringing in my ears. The last thing Id want to do would be put myself back into benzo wd, so they are not an option.

you should be able to get some proper, uninterrupted sleep within the next 24 hours - sorry to say. i've just gone through the same acute stage of withdrawal.

taking any other opiate (whether it's bupe or whatever) will only ease your symptoms temporarily and possibly set you back to square one. i don't see any harm in taking minimal doses to take the edge off to get some sleep in the acute stage, just don't turn it into a habit again, as you'll know.

you're going to have to withdraw fully sooner or later.

if you're taking sub and other opiates, surely this is not PAWS (post acute withdrawal syndrome) as you're still not past the acute stage? you need to have not taken any opiate for like a week to be past the acute stage, anything (even loperamide, sub) will just prolong the acute withdrawal, although it may make it less intense.

i've found switching dependence happens quite fast, i.e. going from heroin to poppy tea, it only takes 2-3 days of poppy tea to switch the withdrawal from short and intense (from heroin) to milder and longer (from poppy tea)

I have only been taking low doses of sub and I do consider myself past the acute stage. Even if I take no sub, I dont get unbearably sick, which is why I think I am past the acute stage. Ok, if you want to get technical I am in whatever stage comes in between acute and PAWS.

Yep, sounds like you are still in acute stage. Don't worry (haha sorryto OP) you will sleep again, although it may be a while. The only thing that ever worked for me when in that w/d manic thing was seroquel. 50-100mg works for me. Synergizes with weed well. That combo will knock out just about everyone (without a tolerance for it) I have noticed.

If you can get some go for it. It's a psych med if you aren't aware but this is a way lower dose. Most sedating drug I've tried to date.

I used to take seroquel when I ran out of oxy to help me sleep. Trouble is, it's too sedating. I was so groggy and lethargic the next day from it. But it did the trick as far as sleep goes. Maybe try some benedryl at night. My doctor used to prescribe visteril which is real similiar.
