Music:
3 Stages, 12 International + 40 Australian Artists.

Protoculture, Perfect Stranger, Dick Trevor, Aphid Moon, AMD, Ace Ventura, Bitmonx, Emok, Zen Mechanics, Johnson & Haske, MapusaMapusa and Antix complete the International Lineup. If anyone has the list for the Local acts could they post it up!

So how many bluelight'ers are making the trip this year? Anyone overly pumped like me?

I cannot wait to see Protoculture, Ace Ventura and Perfect Stranger these three artists have really drawn me into Psytrance over the past few years, being able to see them live will really sum up the first half of this year for me.

I will definately be trying to make it. tbh I'm still kind of glowing from rainbow. Ohh what an experience that was =)

Ive just realised that its not actually all that far away.

Whats the rough setup for this particular doof, I havent attended before. I understand that its set in rather thick bushland which could be interesting?

4 days sounds like another big effort for my poor brain. Is Maitreya much of a muntfest or do people tend to take it a bit easier and pace themselves throughout the 4 days?

Also, due to my annual move back into the city I will no longer be in possession of said motorveicle which has been getting us to lovely remote doofing locations for the past few months and will possibly have to go the way of the wicked van.
How's the drive up there? Would it be to much of an ask to try and make a bunged up old van do the trip? Or is it reasonably accesible?

Last year was supposed to be my first Maitreya but i could not make it due to me quitting work / starting a new job. I hope to make this an annual event for the lady and myself along with Rainbow and possibly Royal.

Checking google maps it looks to be 2.5km of dirt to the camping area, the rest looks to be tar roads so it should be an easy trip there. Photo
Im guessing the site will look somewhat like in this Photo

So plenty of trees to get lost in and lots of shade, plenty of water to have a dip in, but im not too sure on how high the water will be.

Sorry to "derail" this thread but it looks like i most likely will not be attending this year. The friend who was taking me (the same one who drove the lady and myself to rainbow) died in a car accident two days ago.

Oh my GOSH... Protoculture??? :) His set @ Earthcore some years ago... was one of my most memorable doofing experiences... Sunday morning with all the beautiful people donned in their bright happy rainbow coloured clothing... big smiles... warm sunshine bathing the Hydra stage... it was breathtaking (I was perched up on a slight slope behind the Hydra stage dancefloor, leaning back chilling out on my beanbag... soaking up the atmosphere with the sounds of Protoculture filling the air)... I really hope I can get to Maitreya! I wasn't really planning to go but might have to twist some arms ;)

Kye - I am truly sorry to hear about your friend.... my thoughts are with you... *hugs*

Thanks for the support Ultrapsyber, had his funeral the week after the tragic event raised a few coffees in his name and went straight back to work >.>

Now it looks like i am heading to Maitreya, getting pumped again =D

Thanks man, it good to know that there are some nice people still left on the internet. We will be raising some glasses (or plastics) in his name at the grog tent (or wherever the alcohol is being served) this year and every year after.

As per his request im bringing my glow in the dark paint to Maitreya, not too sure its going to be able to dry in this wet weather but hell my swag is made out of canvas so itl' have to do.

Anyway back to getting organized, aint going to be able to last without any gear packed.

was going to head down just for the fri and a chunk of sat, but this weather has turned me off it a bit, would love to hear how it goes, pce !

Awww i feel emotional reading this, i am glad to see you're still going. It's gonna be an emotional journey for you and your friends no doubt this weekend. Your buddy will be right there with ya's in spirit <3

I am so sick of water right now... so sick...

Nah not really, the weekend was great but my swag was underwater from the 2nd night onwards so i slept in the car for the rest of the weekend. Phone and Camera are both broken (my point and shoot camera not my SLR) my swag, sleeping bag and all of my clothes are soaked but im in good spirits and i didnt catch a cold.

Photos and stories are to come later.

Man the weather was soooo bad over the weekend i am glad i didn't go! there is no way i could have enjoyed myself in such conditions. the princess in me would have come out for sure!

Yeah, the weather was a bit shit during the nights. Saturday day was awesome, quite terrible on sunday. However, you got use to the wet and mud quite fast :) Lots of friendly people, I feel they could of done better with more 'chill out' areas, sometimes we needed a break from the more intense music but with nowhere to go except moist t-pees and smelly carpets :)

Well that was a very interesting weekend I have to say.

Okay so . . . . . .
The Pro's
-The set up of stages and market place was roomy without being too far apart
-The stages were nice and close to each other
-The camping was nice and close to the festival
-The music was awesome
-The fantastic weather on Saturday
-The general vibe was great
-The decorations and installation art were fantastic
-The people were awesome
-flushable - regularly serviced toilets
-on site showers with a $5 donation to charity for use
-meeting Zen Mechanics was brilliant
-making new friends on the dancefloor, awesome

The cons
-The Rain
-The Wind
-The smell caused by the mud drying in the sun (along with the cow/sheep pooh)
-The guy trying to get into out tent and then taking a swing at me because I wouldn't let him in, whilst telling me he was going to come back in the morning and kill me!
-The Rain
-The Mud
-The Rain
-The Rain

The organisers of this event did a fantastic job, there is very little more they could have done, the weather was beyond their control. Unfortunately for me the weather and the violent act towards me, made the weekend have bad memories overcoming the good memories, which isn't fair seeing there were more good things than bad.

I will put this one behind me and look towards the next one.

Mudtreya !!!

The festival was tops :-) I bought a ticket for a friend for her birthday but she decided to sell it on the Friday night without telling me. That left me on my own and no-one to go with!! I convinced a friend to come with me on the Saturday but he had to come back for work on Monday :-( We left after the massive storms in Melbs on Sat nite. We got there around 2am, which sucked cos I really wanted to catch Tetrameth after he did a no-show at Astrix 2weeks ago! Oh well.. Rocked the night and saw in the sunrise in good spirits. All the morning toons were great. Zen, Andromeda and Ace were the beez knees!! We heard a report that another storm was comin thru on Sun arvo. My friend bailed when he heard this news. Lucky, cos both exits got blocked. Everyone was trapped. The storm was an intense experience. I huddled under a neighbours tarp and saw it thru. Saw the carnage after, but good to see the party keep goin. Had a great Sunday arvo. Even if I was on my own.. Got pretty tired when the sun went down. I slept on a metal box which was very uncomfortable. All good when I woke up on Mon morn and the sun was out. Chilled out mid morn and then got very exited bout the arvo. Shadow FX is my fave and I was really lookin forward to catchin him for the 1st time in 2010. Bit dissapointed when he came on 1/2 hr late and only played for an hour. Oh well, highlight of my weekend. Cheers for playing Full Floyd Rig!! Ace's set after was great. Pity I had to get organised and grab my bag from neighbours tent and put it in another car. This little mission denied me precious time on the Ace Ventura dancefloor. I still enjoyed the tunes as I did my l'il mish but woulda prefered to be rockin it on the floor. Be more organised is the lesson I learnt.. Got home ok with a lift from two awesome Israeli dudes. Much respect to Paul and Sue for takin me under their wing when I was left there on my own. Much love. Cheers Aamir for the drive home... The experience was amazing. Never been in such extreme conditions before. Having to practically swim to the stages was annoying at first, then fun, then annoying again! It made it though. I took a nice stack outside the toilets in one of the lakes trying to balance my bacon and egg roll in one hand and a drink in the other. Boo, my clothes got ruined. I've never seen a dancefloor so muddy. To everyone's credit, you guys were in such a good mood and made the dancefloor a special place. Thankyou to all the organisers, dj's and market stall people who made it a fantastic weekend.. Love for you all.. If only my friend would've come with me it woulda been perfect. My first Maitreya and I'll never forget it :-)

Sorry to hear bout the police interference on the Friday. Hope everyone ok.

An Incredible event... Hearing Perfect Stranger play was amazing, as well as Tetrameth, Shadow FX, Ace Vanture, Protoculture, Emok...and many other artists.

The vibe was brilliant and everyone was positive throughout the event during the weather.
