is it normal when tripping on psilocybin to hear people talking farther away than you should be able to clearly hear them last trip i had was good at first but 3 hours in i started hearing conversations at normal voice level from like 100 yards away and it was really what they were saying

does anybody have a similar experience?

the human body is complex and works in some ways we can only begin to fathom. Psychedelic drugs allow us enhanced abliities and senses, and the way to "experience" reality in ways that are different, but I believe just as real as the reality we "normally" perceive.

While there is somewhat of a "normal", there can never truly be normal when referencing mushrooms and related drugs. While I don't have a similiar experience, I am sure others must.

Audiotory distortions or hallucinations aren't uncommon on psilocybin mushrooms..

^I wouldn't necessarily call them distortions or hallucinations. They seem to disable whatever it is in our every-day consciousness that screens out what the brain considers extraneous detail, like people talking outside what's normally considered earshot, and i think that's experienced as heightened sensory awareness. I've definitely had similar experiences that were objectively true. i.e. the conversations / sounds I heard really took place. Perfectly normal.

Butthole Surfers - Who Was In My Room Last Night?

When i took a large (something like 1500 µgs) dose of LSD i kept hearing variations on the space-y sound you hear at the beginning (minus the voices of course). Never happened on shrooms, or ever again on LSD. that was the most aesthetically pleasant trip I've ever been on, CEVs and OEVs were beautiful, and I experienced the greatest euphoria I have ever experienced ever.

When I last took mushrooms, I could swear the clouds were much sharper and more distinct, if definitely being warped.

Later that trip I listened to an old Terence McKenna rant talking about some old scientific experiment that found sub-threshold doses of psilocybin increased visual acuity in subjects. I thought gee, maybe I really was seeing more of the clouds than I normally would (up until they started shifting back and forth and forming fractal patterns).

So it wouldn't shock me if the same could happen with hearing.
