Magic mushrooms make my cat go mental

One time peaking on LSD my puppy became very worried for me, she seemed to jump up at my face trying to join me in the vast sea of thought I was drowning in.. I remember her seeming scared that something wasn't right with me. Animals are neat:3
When my cat and his brother (sadly no longer around) were small kittens, I had some microdots given to me. I didn't really think it through and decided I should test them to see how potent they were, completely neglecting to realise that acid isn't really a drug you can have a quick test dose of. So I spent ten hours with two kittens and some ketamine, and at one point I came to lying on the sofa with two cats lying across my chest left to right. It was very cute indeed and you definitely feel like you connect with them in a way that doesn't happen sober.

When kittens are exploring they act like they're completely full of LSD anyway so it was a good meeting of minds. ;)

lol my first time doing acid was also a "test dose" that ended up being a lot more than just a test dose ^^^ XD

and to keep it closer to on topic, that day that i first did acid was the first day that i met our neighbor's cat. he came over and chilled in the entry way of our building. and the name on his nametag was Fry. haha.

later that night i was walking downtown and i ran into a man named Cid (or maybe it was spelled Syd or Sid). he was sorta new to town and he wanted to walk to this bar that he couldn't find. i wasn't doing anything so i walked him there. we had to walk by my apartment on the way there. while there, Fry the neighbor's cat started following me the rest of the way to the bar. at the time i thought he was trying to protect me from this strange man, but idk about that now. i had to carry fry all the way home to make sure he didn't run off and get lost somewhere. Fry never really came over much other than that one day I first did Acid.

so yeah, in summary... the first time i fried on acid i met a cat named Fry and a man named Cid. lol.

Maybe your cat is ill. Don't use flea treatments with permethrin for cats! The are intended for dogs and can kill cats or make them very sick!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Permethrin
"Permethrin is toxic to cats. Many cats die after being given flea treatments intended for dogs, or by contact with dogs having recently been treated with permethrin."

WRT the flea treatment half of this thread... No need to use anything but the "Revolution" type drops from the vet. They kill adult fleas, prevent maturation of juveniles and hatching of eggs, kill/repel biting insects like mites/spiders/etc., and kill/prevent heartworm. Complete protection and it has been proven to be VERY non-toxic to the pets. AND within a few weeks your home will be free of even fleas in the environment as eventually they all die or are attracted to the treated pet, bite it once then swiftly die.

These sort of treatments (especially Revolution with its multiple targets, other brands I am sure also do the same thing) are by FAR the most effective and humane way to treat fleas. Trust me I have tried them all and nothing comes close to working so well.

But be sure to get them from a vet and not a grocery or pet store.... a while back there was a rash of pet deaths due to over the counter products that were mimics of Frontline actually containing dangerous toxic overdoses. Spend a few extra bucks for the well being of your little loved ones.

I just remembered, mushrooms produce a variety of long chain unsaturated alcohols that have quite strong smells. I would assume that your kitty is smelling the new mushrroms, and since all cats know that novelty = bad, he's flipping out.

Once on 17 Grams of mushrooms. I was lying down on my sofa, eye closed, shpongle blaring.

My kitty goes and sits on my tummy and looks into my eyes, just looks deeeply into my eyes,
Lets out this cute and tiny little sigh and closes her eyes. I start petting her, and she flops over onto her side,
purrs heavily and paws away at me.

I'm lying there, looking at this feeling her love and contentment, when suddenly its like i hear a little voice 'IN' my head.
Like the voice was quiet enough to be louder than the external music if that made sense.

The voice was very small and very cute and it was like a bubbling emotion. If an emotion could bubble within itself and communicate from an emotions perspective was exactly kind of like what i was hearing. I open my eyes and i look at zombie and zombie looks at me, and stretches and lets out a little squeeky meow of the exact same harmonic pitch that i was attributing to the voice, come from within.

I saw to my Kitty, "zombie, are you telepathically communicating with me?" and i start petting her directing my emotions as feelings or words inside of my head towards my cat, she gets started and jumps off me and leaves the room. I stand up and follow her, and keep on saying things like

Were you talkin to me zombie, and she would just let out this weird meerowoemeows that sounded like she was doing her damnedest with cat vocal cords to communicate to me as i was vocally to her.

eventually after 5 hours of these mind games.... i came to terms with the fact that there is a Psychic field, we are all part of it, just like we all touch the ground..

Zombie was so content, i was so high, i felt or heard what it was like to be content as a cat from a human perspective.

Just like my Kitty learned how much i care about her from some kind of mental channeling.

I think the flea treatment laws are stricter in the UK than the US, and I don't know what Revolution is. I've read similar stuff about permethrin being toxic to cats, but these are all products sold for use on or with cats from a good retailer (Pets At Home) so I trust them enough.

Also, A++++ on Nightwatch's story, good stuff!

In regards to the changa/insect swarm story:

Mosquitoes (and I would imagine a number of other biting insects) find their prey by detecting exhaled carbon dioxide. My theory on this story is: burning changa=CO2=swarm, but who knows...

can you find Advantage for the fleas? i wouldn't use a flea collar. not safe.

Sorry for more off topic, but being as he is the subject of the original post, I want the best for that really cute cat! And his wonderful owner, too, of course :)

It's http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Selamectin

In UK the brandname is Stronghold. For example http://www.buystronghold.co.uk/

Amazingly enough, in addition to stopping a broad spectrum of pet pests, the dander that falls from the animal actually kills developing fleas in the environment leading to a simultaneous end to the problem everywhere pet goes. No shit! Used as prescribed by weight, very low problem rate. Way more humane than exposing you and friend to high concentrations of nasty pesticides all over the animal and the house with the bombs. Yuck.

Ditch the permethrin and get this, seriously. FAR more humane, gentle and effective. It's no fun tripping while being bitten by fleas, I am well aware!

First paragraph of above link... it's not lying, I've used it since it came out, light years worth of advancement.

It can seem rather unlikely that placing a few drops of liquid on the neck of a dog or cat can kill fleas which might be found on a completely different part of the body. Even more remarkable is that the same application can kill tiny mites living deep in the ear canals, and even the worms living in the middle of the gut! Stronghold works because it is absorbed through the skin into the blood stream. It is transported around the body by the blood, Killing parasites everywhere. Some of it is absorbed into the sebaceous glands in the skin. These glands then pass the Stronghold out onto the surface of the skin over a period of about a month, maintaining the flea killing effect over the whole surface of the skin. The activity against fleas is even more amazing than that. It seems that debris from the animals coat falls to the floor and is effective against flea larvae developing in the environment. This is very important because by the time you see any fleas at all on your pet, there will usually be hundreds more developing from larvae under carpets and in nooks and crannies in the home. These fleas are not usually seen, but they make it very difficult to treat a flea infestation. This ability of Stronghold to treat the environment as well as the animals adds to its effectiveness against fleas.

I give my kitties catnip and they go nuts :)

When I get messed up they like to nudge me and cuddle and pass out next to me. They meow at me 100 times in an hour its adorable. They're the cutest things I've ever seen.

I am sure they know when you're in a different state of mind. I think cats are telepathic. Think about it, we just send vibrations through the air using our vocal cords and the way we receive them is picking up that vibration through our ears. Whose to say cats don't have some other form of picking up vibrations, something in their brain can hear our thoughts :)

I can now say that I definitely believe cats are psychic. Last night I had some of the mushrooms with my girlfriend and our friend, and Rasputin was in a very strange state of mind. I wouldn't say that he was freaking out or in any way uncomfortable, but he had eyes like saucers and he kept noticing things that I couldn't see and going variously between a sort of hunting mode and a generally playful sort of thing. The whole time though he was super alert and seemed to be having a brilliant if slightly confusing time.

At one point I'd gone to the bathroom, and when I came out he was hiding in the dark and meowing. It was a more communicative type of meow than just his usual "ATTENTION" or "FOOD" ones too. When he knew I was aware of him he calmed down a bit, and we both went back into the living room together (he walked slightly ahead of me as if there was something he wanted to show me). In the living room my friend was having a bit of a crisis and my girlfriend was talking to her and trying to calm her down. I believe that the unsettled emotions my friend was feeling were what had made the cat uneasy and that's why he'd come to look for me.

There were also lots of times that he would come and sit on my lap, look me deep in the eyes with a strange sort of wisdom (he's normally lovely but incredibly daft), and then kind of flop over in an unusually relaxed way.

He's now sitting on me as a type this and he's as happy as can be, although he does seem to be somehow having a bit more of an internal monologue than normal.

17 grams? I see you're in London so I'm assuming liberty caps? Was that wet or dry?

On a single 1.75g dose of dry liberty caps I've become one with the wind and rain, communed with numerous alien beings at several different dimensional levels, blasted myself across galaxies and seen the annihilation and recreation of the universe. That must have been 17g wet that you took, right? 8o

EDIT: Oops, London Ontario! What sort of shrooms do you get there? The UK ones are strongest by weight I believe, but even so if that was a dry dose.... Sheeeeeeeet

I'm pretty sure that will be a dry dose, Raymonde as most of them over the sea go by dry weight (which is the wrong weight to go by of course)

For that matter, whereabouts you in the UK? Scotland or England? The photo you had looked absolutely beautiful, man.

I'm in Wales. We really are blessed with how beautiful the countryside is here. It's also got many perfect spots for liberty caps to grow.

Why is it wrong to go by dry weight? A given quantity of fresh Welsh mushrooms can vary drastically in weight depending on how much it's rained. Of course most people I know talk in terms of number of mushrooms rather than any sort of weight, and this is clearly silly due to the size variance.

I'll put a few more pictures of Welsh parties up later so you can admire the views. :-)
