Lyrica (Pregablin)

Thanks for the input all, much appreciated. It does confirm my paranoia regarding these tablets, I knew my psyc was pleading ignorance regarding potential w/d's. I promised myself I would not get in too deep with any substance after getting 'clean' so think it maybe time to bite the bullet and taper off these pronto.
I think people are getting confused with pregablin and gabapentin, from what I gather there are not generics of pregablin as the patent is for pysifer and them alone at the moment so any other version is a dodge bootleg and I would not trust any CNS type drug unless made in a proper certified lab.

Brimz, yeah when ever man -I am always pretty much in mate.

pregabalin is a stronger version of gabapentin AFAIK.

Yeah this vendor does bootlegs of loads of branded drugs, they seem to work just fine though and are very cheap so i'm not complaining. Bablylonboy explained something, which i cannot recall, about why some countries are exempt from patent laws, so they can churn out the cheap generics before anyone else.

Now whatever happened to that 4-methyl pregabalin? Where the fuck is it??!

Been wondering much the same myself.

Was on Pregabalin for 5 years, 2 x 300 mg daily for most of the time. Went from that to 0 in 5 weeks, and then it took an additional 1-2 months until more or less regular sleep patterns/anxiety levels were restored. Getting off it was pretty damn shitty, perhaps somewhere in the middle of the worst I had read about and the easiest. I've never been a fan of opiates, but I think I felt some of what people describe as the opiate WD part of it.

^ Ouch...yeah that sounds about right Bob from what Ive read. I have no urge to go there! The transition to 2400mg gabapentin was pretty seamless...the pregabalin 4x stronger figure is spot on. Lyrica is certainly more in your face than gabapentin, but I've come to enjoy the nuances of GP more. I take it therapeutically, but often underdose, usually 1200-1800 mg a day, with no ill effects. A few times a month I will take a staggered dose of 3-4 grams and have a good ol' time. Staggering is key, I'll dose 300 mg every 25 mins or so....you saturate the transporter easily, diminishing returns. I will get way higher off 2 grams staggered than 5 grams immediately. The pharmacokinetics of pregablin are more straightforward..

Recreational use is pretty shit,

different horses for different courses or whatever the hell shammy says ;) I find it to have great recreational value! Seriously, it works stellar for me....I even get nice CEVs at 600-900mg, drunken and disinhibited, yet very stimmy, confident and outgoing. Strange one that is! I just saw a paper showing yet another mechanism of action for gabapentin....downstream GABA-B activation. Sure feels like it. Perhaps pregabalin does the same..

The CEV's remind me of direct GABA-A agonists..like muscarine or gaboxadol. Goddamn gaboxodol was nice. Really the best sleep aid EVER

so please Mr Chinese...bring on the 4-methyl pregabalin, and bring back gaboxodol.....and some quality methaqualone analogs, not all this shite!

WD/rebound from this is very slight for me. I've been on 600mg daily for a year then took a short break and restarted at 150-250mg for another year. Am still taking that amount. Suddenly upping my dose gives me some rebound but it's nothing like GHB- or benzo-withdrawal for me. Can quit it CT any time without worry.

It greatly potentiates my codeine script. And is lush on its own. If I get the pregabalin dosage right it feels almost like a small dose of GHB.. but cleaner, more lucid. The effect lasts for 4-6 hours (empty stomach). Higher dosages make me edgy, disinhibited and near-manic, and they badly mess up my motor coordination... I just stick to the 75mg capsules as they still work splendidly.

I like combining it with CBD-rich weed, is an excellent combination for nerve pain. And it completely obliterated craving for alcohol and ket for me (glutamate action).

As it has a simillar mode of action to benzos i would imagine that the discontinuation syndrome would be simillar to benzo cessation, and a gradual taper would probaby be the best way to do it. Yes your Dr is full of shit, Pregabalin has the same risk profile as benzos, in terms of potential for dependancy formation and discontinuation syndrome.

Source?

honestly got this perscribed and it was very underwhelming even at high doses it had a strange effect, didnt agree with me whatsoever, horses for course and all that, but felt nothing like ghb to me, even at like 300mg it wasn't anything special (for me anyways)

id say you would need to definitely have something to taper or use something else to come off this chemical, as being on it so long you will of gained physiological addiction as well physical dependence as we all know lyrica works on gaba and we all know what happens when we start taking gaba working drugs daily , your physcologist doesnt know much about the drug because it hasn't been aroudn that long, but to say you can just stop this drug from 600mg daily is pretty stupid of him/her

Lyrica is a bonafide gem.....while it works. Intermittent use is best for recreation, but OP you sound like that isn't your approach.....but FWIW it is one of my fav "downers"....Or "upper, downer, all arounder" as it does a little bit of everything for me. Great anxiolytic effects, chatty, euphoric, drunken fucktard....one stop shopping!

That being said, was prescribed 600mg a day for a year and a half for neuropathic pain until my insurance cut changed....ugh. I've had many a benzo problem in the past, as well as a variety of GABA-B agonists, and pregabalin withdrawal was awful! Felt like a cross between opioid withdrawal and benzo withdrawal.....I spent about 5 days suffering, and then got on Gabapentin, stat, 2400mg a day. Stopped the WD cold. So, I don't know how long it lasts....

From reading around some people have no withdrawals and some people have it bloody awful for ages....I know, I know, same thing for every substance, YMMV and all that, but there does seem to be a huge variation in pregabalin/Gabapentin dependance....

Indeed, I recognize your description of the positive effects as well as your bafflement as to the variation in withdrawal.

I've never gone cold-turkey off of 600mg (when I said I can quit CT without worries that would be from my current dosage), but tapering down from 600mg to 200mg per day had me feeling only moderately anxious/cold/gloomy for a couple weeks. Still got a few hours of sleep, ate okay, and had no worrying cardio issues--worlds apart from the GHB/benzo/alc withdrawal torment as I know it.

For the record I found the w/d not that bad at all to be honest, well not a patch on a benzo detox but is still uncomfortable. I struggled mainly with the rebound symptoms which did not help my mental state but for a sane mind versed in w/d coming off this even at high doses is easy in comparison.

Was that 2x 300mg for 5 years constantly? Any other noticable (negative) side effects beside the WD?
Issues with short-term memory? Or water retention/weight gain? Those seem common.

I use the 225 & 100's pregab's plus oxy all prescribed for serious pain. Plus Cyclizine which some will remember from back in the day, I ain't granpa Jones but but got my strips. Pregabalin, just neck it & wait for it to come on. Takes a while is excellent for nerve pain & in the right combo makes ya numb. Used to take gabbie's but would lose control.......
