First time posting here, been lurking around for years. If this is in the wrong forum, sorry. This dude I know has Ankylosing Spondolitis (degenerative arthritis of the lumbar (lower) spine and pelvis). He doesn't have insurance so he can't get the medication he really needs, Enbrel (Etanercept). So his PCP has been prescribing him 5/325mg Oxycodone, etc etc. Long story short, he told his doctor that the pain was coming back and wasn't being controlled anymore. The doctor gave him a sample bottle of Lyrica(pregabalin) for nerve pain, which he doesn't have. The dude also has some anxiety issues but not enough to warrant benzodiazepines.

He took the Lyrica, double does of what the Dr told him, which was 150mg twice a day. The first hour he said he felt the medication coming on and felt relaxed. Then in another hour he started feeling odd, relaxed and speedy, almost like taking Adderall. The dude can't explain it, relaxed and speedy, he said it felt very very odd, not bad, actually kind of good. Dude said it actually really helped with his anxiety and he actually felt like doing something, rather than sitting around all day.

My question is, does anyone know anyone who has experience with Pregabalin? What side effects did they have? The dude has read that its basically like Nuerontin (Gabapentin) except stronger and scheduled(cV). Dude wants to know what dosage will do what and what exactly is he feeling? He's really just looking for anyones opinion on Pregabalin and how it affected them. Is he high? He's pretty experienced in Narcotics as he's had the arthritis for years but he's never had a drug like this... Appreciate any help.

Also if it helps, Dude is 23, 120lbs. Prescribed Oxycodone 5/325mg currently but has been on 10/325mg, 7.5mg and a whole shit load of other anti-inflammatory's (etodolac, meloxicam, celebrex, etc). He lives in Florida so going to a pain management specialist is almost out of the question as 90% of them here are junkie fun-houses.

i was on both gabapentin and pregabalin (lyrica) for about two years, though I took it pretty sporadically. I take about 300mg lyrica and I start to feel pretty damn out of it, but it does a WHOLE lot for headaches and nerve pain. If you smoke weed or do pain killers on top of it, you're not right to be operating machinery, I'll say that.

I wouldnt take more than 750mg at one time. Taking too much can cause serious seizures and blackouts if you increase the dose too much. Also if you do take the 750mg you'll feel awesome, but the next day it'll feel like death took a dump on you. So i'd say try 450mg to start with that should give you a good buzz but not a serious one and give you an idea of how it affects YOU. Everyone is different. But i wouldnt plan on driving or anything like that. If you want to go somewhere get a cab or a friend to go with you.

lyrica made me run my mouth it was great hahaha. i loved that script but it was quite expensive, even more so than roxi (bought off the street) which is weird .

Yeah dude cant stop talking and typing. Dude really like this stuff now, it gives him the motivation to get up and go. Almost like Adderall. Very expensive, <snip: no price discussion> for a 60count 75mg bottle.

Will the positive effects of Lyrica diminish to nothing overtime as with benzo use or are there long term benefits?

At the beginning it almost feels a little bit like MDMA to me and I really enjoyed it, I've only ever tried it a few times though. What I have heard from others is that this effect fades pretty quickly with continued use and you are left with a kinda 'generally relaxed' feeling...

Yeah I must have taken 3g's. Yes 3 grams of Gabapentin today. I don't feel a fucking thing. I would take more but I'm thinking 3 grams of ANY drug is my cut off limit lol.

The "High" feeling goes away extremely fast. The first day you take it, it can fuck you up GOOD! Hehe. The 2nd day, it will be possible to get high, but not as much.. After that, in MY experience, it does not produce a high, but it still works for pain and anxiety. And that is, to me, the most important thing. :)
