Lyrica + Oxy?

I have been using oxy for several years but getting them from my current doctor is a pain in the ass since he is new and thinks if I get caught selling my pills then he will get in shit.

Anyway, he prescribed me Lyrica 150mg a day and said you use it as much as possible instead of the Oxy for my nerve damage in my back. So I have been doing Lyrica for 3 days and then Oxy for 3 days ect. My doctor didn't say they couldn't be mixed, but considering when I first met him he was convinced that Oxycodone and Oxycontin were the exact same medication even after I explained that one was IR and the other was ER. So I don't really trust him, not to mention that he was still doing his apprenticeship sorta speak, he doesn't even have his own practice (I go to a medical clinic/mini hospital here in Montreal).

The thing is that with the Lyrica it takes about 600mg to actually do anything for the pain, and at that dose I feel like have just mixed weed and some weak LSD together (I can see why people think Lyrica is recreational).

I was thinking of cutting my Oxy dose in half (10 mg instead of 20) and upping the Lyrica dose to 300mg and seeing how well that worked.

If mixed together will they sorta help each other out or is it a bad combination? I don't want to end up making myself sick.

Hmm.....I may try Lyrica with some Norcos.

As far as your doctor goes, either hes playing stupid or he really is a retard. It boggles my mind that some doctors dont know whats going on with pain meds & which ones are better for certain pains.

I am not trying to get high off the stuff. My only concern is keeping my pain to a manageable level. I am a chef so I pull 10+ hour shifts on most days doing a lot of running around in a busy kitchen. Without painkillers I would be lying in bed most of the day.

And no, he isn't playing dumb. He really believed that Oxycontin and Oxycodone IR were the same thing. He also said one of the dumbest things to me that I ever heard a doctor say, "Maybe we should switch you from alprazolam to xanax and see if that helps with your panic attacks." 8)

Something tells me he flunked the pharmacology classes that he took.

LMAO......I dont know if I would want this doctor doing anything to me, whether giving me a physical or prescribing any meds. The guy seems a bit off but maybe he will hook you up with some meds other doctors wont.

I too worked in restaurants for years since my father owned a few & I needed some form of pain meds because of how long a day I would stand cooking & what ever else needed to be done so I know where you're coming from with pain & standing all day, it sucks!

Lyrica doesn't "boost" the recreational effects of opiates like other GABA drugs, benzodiazepines, Soma, etc. It will enhance the pain killing effects to an extent so sure, you could combine it with the oxycodone and see if it helps.

Does Lyrica work better tham Soma's when mixed with pain meds as far as the pain goes & not just getting high?
