Lyrica/Gabapentin to avoid opiate withdrawl?

Basically, I was involved in an accident a few months ago that left me with intense nerve and muscle damage/pain. This has gotten me a prescription for 300mg Gabapentin 3 times a day, some sample bottles of lyrica that I don't really take, and quite a few 7.5/350 Hydrocodone/apap (norco).

Basically, a recent birthday of mine left me with some cash, and a good friend of mine who sells 20mg oxymorphone willing to hook me up on pricing as a birthday present. This, combined with the fact that I hadn't been taking much of my hydrocodone and had about 90 left , has led me to a week long opiate binge that has been pretty bad. I'm stuck in a college town, my roomate and best friends are all out of town for a week or two, and my girlfriend is on vacation with her family, leaving me pretty much alone all day every day with not much to do but pop pills and sit around, behavior which I've pretty much always avoided, and has led me to this nontypical behavior of my current binge.

ANYWAYS, GETTTING TO THE POINT.
I've been taking 60mg of the norco a day, and snorting 20mg of oxymorphone at night. I'll be out of the oxy tomorrow, and I've decided that I'm gonna taper myself off the codone ASAP to do my best to avoid addiction to opiates. My questions are:
1. Will I be looking at much of a withdrawl process with the doses I've been taking daily for about a week straight?
2. If so, I've read some places that lyrica/gabapentin can help with opiate withdrawl, if I've been taking my 900mg of gabapentin a day, and no lyrica, is there a dose of either/both that will help with any withdrawl?

Hopefully there won't be bad withdrawl, as I have w/d from xanax before and it was hell and got me to quit for good a few years back. The last thing I want to develop is an addiction to opiates, which is why I'm quitting tomorrow as soon as I'm out of the oxymorphone.

Thanks, sorry for the long post :)

Well it sounds like you went on a pretty decent bender so.. it shouldn't be super severe but you might be feeling something. The lyrica could help.. I know a low dose knocked me out cold which could help with the insomnia. Does your friend who has the Opana perhaps have any benzos he could hook you up with? Something like Xanax and Valium might help you out more. Drink a bunch of water, try to sleep and exercise.. You should be fine. Good luck!!

You won't have too hard of a time but you may still feel on the edge for a couple of days. If you feel some pain then you could take 450-600mg of Lyrica and that may help. It takes roughly 2 hours until it begins to kick in which is a drawback. Start with 450mg and if within a couple hours it doesn't work take another 150mg. Or you could just take 600mg which may work better. I find Lyrica to have greater efficiency than Codeine, Tramadol and Propoxyphene when it comes to analgesia at doses of 600mg or more.

I wouldnt say it will be too bad and certainly nothing compared to withdrawing from xanax. If you got through that this should be a cake walk for ya.

Gabapentin and lyrica help a good bit with opiate withdrawals. Im prescribed gabapentin for neuropathic pain along with morphine and gabapentin has helped me through opiate withdrawal many times. It sedates you at higher doses, helps with restless leg syndrome even better then clonazepam for me and just helps the overall shittiness of opiate withdrawal.

The above goes the same with lyrica which i actually find alot better but due to it's outragous cost i can't afford it and only got it through samples. Start with 450mg's of lyrica and go from there. I found them to be cross tolerant since there much the same drug but unless you want to be staggering around like the town drunk don't take too much.
