Are they a safe combination? I'm taking 300mgs of Lyrica, and 50-100mgs of tramadol a day (as needed). Is this okay?

Update 8/25/2013 11:17pm: I am taking 150mg of Lyrica, and 100mg of Trams. Any idea if this level of dosage is ideal without feeling overly high? I haven't taken trams in a week (longest I've been without them) so I don't want to get off the wall messed up, just enough to ease my pain levels and feel a decent euphoria. I feel it easy when not taking for a week; but just don't want it to be overpowering cause I'm quite comfy with 100mgs.

Interactions between your selected drugs: MODERATE

tramadol ↔ pregabalin
Applies to:tramadol and Lyrica (pregabalin)
MONITOR: Central nervous system- and/or respiratory-depressant effects may be additively or synergistically increased in patients taking multiple drugs that cause these effects, especially in elderly or debilitated patients.

If you already have taken the combination without adverse effects, it is probably safe to continue. Although, you are on a very high dose of lyrica. The only interaction seems to be CNS Depression.

what are you tolerance, if any at all, to either drug?

that's a pretty large dose of lyrica so you might want to back it off to 75-150 and maybe use only 100mg of tramadol to get an idea of the synergy before experimenting any further.

Damn. not taking it for any other uses, just to relieve pain. i have fibromyalgia, and lyrica sometimes doesn't do it's job.

The interaction moreso depends on your tolerance to both of them. The risk of interactive harm really comes with that initial trial, where CNS depression could be potentially fatal. But if you're on lyrica 300mgs per day, and you already took the tramadol with no serious side effects, you can probably go ahead and resume that because if you already did it and didn't even start to pass out or nod out then you're probably well above the range of lethal respiratory depression.

It's not as much of a gamble like it is with mixing stimulants. The body is pretty stable with depressants in terms of predictable efficacy.

think i can cut down the dose of the lyrica to 225mgs, and do 50mgs of tramadol? i really dont want to take any risks.

IME and IMO it is safer to take tramadol wih an anti-convulsant like lyrica. i think tramadol and lyrica go quite well together

i say...

200-400mg lyrica
50-150mg tramadol

(*depending on tolerance*)

Ok, the past few days I've dropped down to 150mgs of Lyrica. It simply isn't helping and the side effects are worse than anything i've taken before.
I am going to be lowering down 75mgs each week, see if it'll be good to get off it. Would I be able to take my tramadol at 75mgs now?

There are drug interaction functions at drugs.com & mediguard.org

The one at drugs.com stated that there is a moderate interaction between them, which may provide a synergistic effect.

Hey there. I'm on Lyrica and tramadol for nerve pain from a lumbar disc problem. Currently 600mg Lyrica (2 x 300 morning/night) and 300mg tramadol (Durotram, slow release). I was initially prescribed tramadol, but it did nothing for the nerve pain. Lyrica 600 on its own had some effect, but combined with tramadol it has made a huge difference. Apart from being a bit of a zombie i've had no negative reactions.

Wow I haven't asked this question in a year. I am on 150mg of Lyrica again after coming off, only been on it a week. I am taking 100mgs of trams now 2-4 times a week, but haven't taken any in a week cause of starting Lyrica. Is 150 lyrica/100mg of trams safe? I am expected to go on a dose bump to 300 in next week or two by doctors orders.
