lung problems

Thanks again, great responses. I'm going to go a different doctor tomorrow to get a second opinion and going to request a CT of my lungs. Also going to contact the landlord about the asbestos issue.

Just had a hit of speed and my lungs feel much better but that's only a temporary (and rather expensive) solution.

The blood I've been coughing up is just specks, not mouthfuls so I'm going to assume that it's just from an irritated throat from coughing a lot like a couple of people suggested.

Did your first doc give you any meds? Are you coughing up a lot of phlegm, and what color predominantly-- you mention a few hues!

There are a few different approaches to curing different types of bronchitis in Eastern medicine.

More than a decade ago I stopped smoking cigs due to irritative bronchitis-- which later developed into a bacterial mess. Cut even the green out til you recover :)

And try to eat light, cooked vegetables. Try to keep your meals small until you feel your digestion catching up again. Keep hydrated. Let us know what your second doc says!

Started feeling much better but I went to the doc anyway and she assured me that there's no point in doing a CT scan and that I am indeed going to be fine. Hardly coughing anything up anymore (for the past two days) and only wheezing occasionally when breathing. Looks like my immune system finally got off it's ass and got rid of this fucking infection.

After a month of being horribly sick I am never going to smoke tobacco with weed again, nor am I ever going to smoke a bong. I learnt my lesson. Going to learn how to make hash brownies and smoke the occasional green joint.

In a way it's good that this happened otherwise I might have kept on smoking green/brown through a bong for years/decades to come and made myself irreversibly sick.

Thanks heaps for all the support and suggestions.

(Tobacco is evil.)

ok so i have been smoking marijuana for about 6 years now...i've just seemed to notice that my lungs are pretty shitty now... for the past month i've been really sick, had a lung infection got antibiotics, kept on smoking, still haven't fully recovered from that lung infection..im kinda worried because my mucus when i cough it up tastes metallic, idk i think me smoking out of a popcan for my early marijuana usage is the culprit....have any of you ever tasted metallic mucus?...this is kinda retarded question to ask you guys cuz your not doctors or anything but could this just be a lung infection or do you think i've permanently fucked up my lungs from weed smoke and all the harmful things in popcans? oh btw i started getting sick after i smoked this nasty weed, i mean this shit was beyond shchwag, it was like the growers sprayed pesticides on it or something and threw the buds on the dirty ground to dry. maybe this nasty weed has caused me to inhale some nasty chemicals that those shady motherfucking growers put in there...idk

Its because you've been putting a foreign substance into your lungs for the past six years. Even if it doesn't cause cancer its still smoke and its not healthy in the greatest sense of the word.

Cutting it out completely would be good or cutting back would be ok.

The metallic taste from weed is weed grown with chemicals. Tin foily taste? Yeah very distinct. I used to think all weed had that after taste :\ It shouldn't be there.

Not willing to quit? Get an organic supplier and a vaporizer which will minimize lung irritation, IME.

Do you smoke cigarettes?

QFT! its from shit (chemicals/growth stims) in the weed. get a vape (or at MINIMUM a bong). also, you can get on google and search "lung cleanse" and find some stuff that might help clear you out :).

I was in a similar situation after 5 years of smoking tobacco. One day I went for a jog and realized my lungs felt literally like they were jammed with soot. I felt them like two cardboard boxes in my chest every time I took in a deep breath.

From that day I quit. Three weeks later I couldn't believe how much better I felt. I could breathe again. Slowly, over I'd say a few months to a year, my lungs went completely back to normal.

Mind you, you don't really have to quit weed. Just get yourself a vaporizer. From your lungs' point of view it's nearly the same. Also, aerobic exercise (jogging, etc.) has worked in my experience to clear out the damage and restore lung capacity.

Update: got worse again and went back to the doctor again who said that I should have been taking anti-biotics the whole time. Stupid fucking doctors. Would have been nice if she said that to me the first time.

So I'm almost all the way through a week long course of amoxycillin and I feel a bit better, but still not great. I have a feeling I'm going to finish off the anti-biotics and still be sick.

:(

It's been four and a half weeks now.

lung problem

Hi guys.
I've recently developed an uncomfortable feeling in my right lung, I don't know why. I do smoke cigarettes, and it does feel better when I go for a decent walk.
I have bad hypochondria (sp), so I'm pretty worried about it.
I am wondering what it could be, and how I can promote the health of my lungs.
I just want to be healthy now after overcoming an addiction.
I can breathe deeply just fine, but it causes a heavy type feeling on my right lung seemingly. I am wondering what to do, see a doctor ASAP?
thanks alot guys :)

I do smoke cigarettes

This is most likely the root of your problems. You need to see a doctor soon, just in case. They can listen to, and take scans of, your lungs to figure out what's wrong.

I don't want to be some judgemental ninny or anything like that, but it would be GREATLY beneficial to yourself to quit smoking. If you don't, lung problems and a host of other cardiovascular problems are inevitable, not to mention the heightened risk of various cancers.

It's awesome that you are wanting to live healthy and have overcome an addiction in this pursuit! Perhaps quitting cigarettes is the next step in that journey...

thank you for the reply kind sir! :).
I called the local health line, cardiac related issues and immediate respiratory problems were ruled out. I believe I perhaps strained or pulled a muscle, the pectorialis major muscle. I am doing my very best to quit smoking aswell.
I don't believe this to be a lung problem anymore actually, but i'll see the doctor ASAP.

burnt lungs

Last night I smoked salvia in a pipe with a torch lighter. Today my throat feels like I had habenero salsa yesterday.

What ways are there to help the recovery of lungs exposed to heat? Should I do aerobic exercise or take it easy on my lungs for several days? I have been having Traditional Medicinals brand Throat Coat tisane and peppermint tisane. Also, before brewing the peppermint, I put it in front of my mouth and breathe through it (which I suggest you try whether your throat hurts or not :) ). For breakfast I had oatmeal with ground flax, which is very gooey.

I doubt your lungs are actually burnt. Burns of the lungs of any degree require immediate emergency medical care.

I think he means, due to the hot smoke he breathed in - how can he repair the damage that occured.
The tiny hairs in your wind pipe will have been damaged - as occurs with any level of smoking.
As for the repair - id be interested to know and thus will be checking back when some answers start flowing in!

i doubt there's much you can do, blackened lungs are the price we pay!
i have mild asthma, and i find that using both inhalers i'm given every so often makes it easier to hack up some of the tar lying in there, but as for the damage to the cilia in your lungs and throat i'd be surprised if there was anything you can do.. something tells me that if it were possible to repair smoking damage it'd be a topic of WIDE discussion!

vit-A?!? Thats been linked to an INCREASED risk of lung cancer in smokers.... In fact they had to stop the trial because the evidence that large ammounts of vit-a increased the risk of cancer was becoming significant (and you can't run a trial where you are knowingly endangering life).
