Dead leaves dance
around me in the autumn wind
and I don't know if I can take
the coming season again,
so as I close my eyes and tilt my head back,
with hands resting here on my blistered knees,
if I cannot change the season, let me adapt
to the death en route, let me change me, please
let my Fall here last till Spring
let that frigid bardo disappear
or let me roll with the bitter cold
take away the gray and fear
Lady Luna reflects the
unseen sun amidst the stars above
casting her glow upon my skin
as she juggles crow and dove
so as I open my eyes and bow my wary head
with hands to the infinite sea in which our island rests
I scream at her, how can you effect my tides;
why only turn this face to me, for you wax and wane,
so I know light reaches the other side
I know there's a place you keep all you hide
I know the light shines on places not for me
and you're hung so high, I could never reach
Dead leaves crumble
tonight beneath my heavy feet
dried and cracking under soles
that dry, crack and bleed
let me please transform into my self again
let my sacred Fall here last till Spring
to the edge I'll go, arms open to the wind
ready to embrace what renewed life will bring.
