Born in small town oklahoma
half way threw Paint it Black

Her momma picked up her tips stepped off stage gave birth to her out back

Raised in a strippers dressing
room learned to count unfolding her momma's tips

They named her Luck 'n' Love
she swore to God above
money would never move these hips

That summer we spent came and went
she took me places I'll never see again

Thought she was an angel
showing me to heaven
she was leading me down a path of sin

Love healed my broken spirit
drew blood to calm life's toss

Luck delt me 21 took my bust nailed it to her cross

Stepping threw the door to escape the night and take cover from the rain

I see her setting at a table surrounded by locals drinking whiskey on the house and snorting a small towns best cocaine

As I raise my pistol the rednecks scatter leaving her in judgement to me

She shouts "I spoke to God my sins have been forgiven" as the bullets set her soul free

Knealing by her side waiting for the words to mend my shattered soul

Wrapped in blood her last words go to God above
"I ain't never had no
luck 'n' love

I feel when the writer of a poem or a song lays down the pen, and read the words that came from their thoughts, memories and experiences. If it brings tears and and self medicating it's worth reading or listening to. If what you're writing doesn't hurt it's not ready to be written
